I battle/struggle/fight daily---literally by the minute....to not end it all....
People say, "That is a permanent solution to a temporary problem."
No!!!!
What if the problems are permanent!!!??? (i.e. I hate myself, my body-cannot change it-I tried...can not accept it,...hair loss, etc.....)
Now what?
My therapist is all about "change your way of thinking"...CBT is so ignorant!!!!

I got an email from Kohl's that I had a 40% off coupon for today and tomorrow only. It took me about an hour but I placed an order and got some great deals. I have been wanting a new dress. I like dressing up sometimes. My birthday is coming up and I have dinner plans at a nice restaurant. But, honestly, I'm a little out of control again. I went through this in the fall. I bought...

Has anyone else noticed that clearly speaking and doing things intentionally is liberating because it helps combat the feeling of depression and a sense of hopelessness? Let me share a little more: in my experience, when those who have tried to project a hidden agenda that is obviously not aligned with integrity and well-being, it's best to be firm and speak clearly from self-awareness and...

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. Psalm 34:18, 19
For me it was an impulse attempt, due to my hormones. I normally think about it on a near daily basis.
CBT is not suppose to be about thinking positively. It's suppose to be more like a fact checking mission. Digging through your thoughts to see the true bases of them. I found it quite hard to do at first.
I do not believe in any god/s. I believe in human kind and kindness. Although there are mean people out there that need to be steered clear of, I found that there are far more kind and caring people then mean ones. I also found that the a lot of the "mean ones" are the very ones that ARE suppose to care about us and are the ones we need to steer clear of the most.
I do believe we all have the right to choose death over suffering. I would just ask that people make sure their suffering is not temporary.
I ask that you do not judge your self too harshly or by other peoples standers.

I tried to kill myself a little less than two months ago. Professionals like to use hurt rather than kill, which rubs me the wrong way. My attempts were bona fide. Somehow I survived three attempts three days in a row. The consequences of my first attempt is I do not remember most of the next day. It is almost a complete blank, but I was functional. I do not know where I went, exactly, or what I did. Just attempting suicide can have consequences.
I understand where you are coming from. I got to the point where I didn't care if it was a permanent solution. I was expecting a spiritual experience. Instead, what I saw was nothing.
Nobody knows for sure what happens when we die. Would you rather use this chance, although not perfect, to live or chance nonexistence. Not existing is scary.
The Serenity Prayer is AMAZING!
Here it is:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
That's how I learned to deal with a sexually abusive grandfather, emotional abusive parents and two date rapes.
I don't let things like the past control me anymore
Yes...I have prayed the Serenity Prayer...many times...has NOT worked yet!!!
You know....we can get a "money back guarantee" on almost everything!!! Even snacks!!!!...but NOT our bodies which are chosen for us by other factors.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................how cruel & unfair!!!! "We" are the ones who endure and suffer due to his!
There's an old addage: Change your thinking, change your life. So sometimes one just has to force themselves to shift the awful thoughts to ANYTHING else: a flower, a pet, what's next to do? - maybre a bubble bath. DUNNO. But I send you my thoughts and prayers for strenght to find a way!! Blessings!
Im writing, because earlier today I was feeling pretty sad...I had a crying spell in the elevator and afterward, realized I needed to.change my thoughts. I made up a song. It's not a fancy song, but just a few words I came up to encourage me. No matter how much I want it to be true, my life isn't totally different. It can't change overnight BUT it can change AND the very important thing I want to remember, to celebrate is that I am TAKING ACTION to make it better. I wanted something to affirm the positive steps rather than ruminate on the negative ones. Here are the lyrics I made up tonight.
"I'm on track, making my life better." (sing it howevee you please)
I felt so much lighter with that sentence floating through my mind.
On my way home, I changed the melody and added additional lyrics. See below. I do hope you feel better.
"I'm on track / making life better."
"Can't stop now / I'm taking action."
"Can't stop now / I'm making progress."
"Gotta keep my chin up / smiling."
"Got my chin up / and I'm smiling."
"Won't stop now / results are coming."
" I'm on track / I'm so dang grateful."
My depression has lows and lowers! It is like treading water....I am all caught up/obsessed with body image and self comparisons...I always wanted to look like Ronnie Coleman (Google images if unfamiliar) but could never get even close....I always wanted thicker hair.....tried unsuccessfully for almost five years....made only small strides......enough to be disheartening. I even attempted to end it all due to this...twice....
that being said, every since I knew him he was on valium, because he did not sleep any more thank 3 or 4 hours at a time, I thought he was jut a hyper person , which he was very skinny and always doing something,
but why didn't his doctor that first prescribed the valium , look further into why he wasn't sleeping???
maybe the doc did tell him he should be mentally evaluated , I dunno, my husband was very stubborn , had a short fuse and had no patience, with other people.
I just wish I learned all about suicide before he did this, I wish I wish :(
