Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

So after three months of running into issues, I finally found a therapist, one that actually can deal with the type of issues that I am dealing with and is willing to see me weekly in office, she's close by. Here is the issue, the billing office is a nightmare. They are billing my medical insurance and not the behavioral health. I don't know what to do. My life seems to be a rock and a hard place. I've had three sessions including the intake, and of course you always have to have the credit card on file, per usual. There is no way of removing my credit card. I'm having the same conversation with them on repeat. After a three way conversation with the insurance company and someone on the phone on Tuesday, we determined that they were not billing behavioral health. Her sessions are four hundred dollars!!! So they made an adjustment for the Apr. 1 and I got an email that the balance was zero. This was Tuesday and I'm thinking that it's resolved.
My sessions are on Mondays so if I have to cancel I have to do it on Fridays. Anyway in the middle of my workday yesterday, Friday, I get another message saying that my credit card will be charged 400 for the session on the 6th. I do another three way call with the insurance and the office. They tell me again that it's a mistake and I can tell that they are tired of hearing from me. My entire breaks at work are taken up with this and usually I get a little sleep on my breaks. I get another email saying that the balance is adjusted to zero at 1 PM.
This morning I wake up and I see another email-after this previous email, stating that 400 is due to be charged per my patient agreement on the 22nd of April for my visit on the 6th-contradicting what we just talked about and the previous email. There is a transaction number. By this point I am totally irritated. I dont' have this problem with my psychiatrist office or anywhere else. I really hate to go out there looking again. There is one other clinic that works with my schedule who has an available therapist. He is across town-I realliy would like to work with a female, but they are professional and there are not these problems.
I really don't care what the billing office says, according to that document the credit card is going to be charged. If I didn't do anything, I would have 12-1600 in charges by the end of the month. This is unreal. I was thinking of talking to the therapist about it on Monday but she really doesn't have anything to do with billing. I asked them about the charge on the 13th and they said that was fine.
Any Advice? I am just so pressed about this, just out of answers. I feel like maybe I should cut my losses. Realistically they can tell you anything on the phone. I hate incompetence. At the end of the day it's a transactional relationship and they are going to get their money any way that they can.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I would definitely tell the therapist what is going on. I had problems with the billing with my newer psychiatrist. They were charging me for sessions I didn't even have. I spoke with him and also their billing department and they finally straightened it out. But I had to point it out.
I'm sorry you have to deal with this. What they are doing is wrong. Let everyone know about it. Keep disputing these charges. Hopefully it gets resolved soon so you two can have your sessions in peace. But yeah, I went through something similar. Sometimes when you are a new patient, their billing is wrong. Have to let everyone there know. Sorry you have to do this. I hope it all gets resolved soon.
Try one more time and be honest but nice to the therapist. Don't quit too early. That is kind of self-sabotage and I have done it much too much myself.
But wow, this is a nightmare for them to be billing you in advance and making so many mistakes.
I would find this discouraging and draining myself. Hang in there, friend.
