I was born, baptized & raised in the Catholic faith. I went to private Catholic school for all but 3 years of my life. The way they used to teach us, if you picked your nose, you would go to hell. A nun actually told my sister that! Now, after 46 years, I am thinking their teachings is why Im depressed so much. It's called Catholic guilt...I feel guilty for everything I do, & believe I deserve all the bad things that happen to me. God is to be highly feared, you will be punished beyond belief for every sin, to love yourself is vanity...etc..etc... I think I will spend a LONG time in purgatory, etc.. I should say, I USED TO feel these things. I have finally recently come to the realization that this way of thinking is NOT good. I dont know if anyone else on here was raised Catholic, but am curious to know what you think..Please no Catholic bashing, Ive had enough of that. I will continue to go to the Catholic church, but my thinking is different. I will continue to be a good/loving/giving person, but I will no longer punish myself with guilt 24/7..thoughts??

Everyday I feel more and more sick. Being in pain every day, I've learned to disguise it. So well that others don't believe my pain when I speak of it. Needing help but only receiving negative responses, I find my way but pay for it later. I absolutely need the rest but there's pressing things to be done.

Ugh my depression is really being triggered by the grief of losing my mom. Ugh it sucks. I wish this pain would leave me already.

..... the point being, religion doesn't make a person good or bad. The person is good or bad because he chooses to be that way.
