Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Same sh*t. Loneliness, frustration, anger. For the love of God, how long can this go on? I'm really glad I can come here and just say the same thing over and over and people get it although it's probalby annoying. I don't even want to call the crisis lines or the talk lines anymore. It really isn't helpful. they can't do anything. they aren't friends. here people get it. we are in the same boat many of us. we know the same pain and awful angst. trying to figure out what the hell point there is in even being here. i should go to bed. i had to write this and i had to have someone hear me before I can unwind enough to even sleep. i'm probably going to overeat now anyway. binge to kill the pain. lovely. i am so sick of it. i'm already so overweight and I can't make a dent in it. believe me i have tried. i wish i was someone else. one of those people who has a relationship, a partner, health, a decent life. i'll never be that person, i'll be tormented until the day i die. how can i be at peace with that. and i've tried. it just doesn't work. it just doesn't.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

I am so so sorry things are so hard for you right now,so painful.
You are such a good person and don't deserve to suffer so.
I wish I had just the right words to comfort you.but in the least of things just know that I care about you very much, and I have missed you here on DS, and have been wondering how you are doing.
I hope things get better for you soon.
You are not alone.
love&hugs&prayers,

Today I came home for my lunch break and then decided to stay home because I'm too down to continue on. I just messaged my boss (yay for the age of technology & for companies no longer requiring you to CALL to report being sick!). I was about to go to bed (and put on my CPAP/sleep mask since I too have gained a lot of weight & can't seem to get any off so now I have sleep apnea) and forget the world til my husband gets home from work. Hopefully my two cats will join me on the bed.
The only thing I can suggest is music. I have songs for feeling even more down, slow songs for feeling down but hopeful, and songs for uplifitng and/or happiness. Depending on what you want or need, take some time and find those songs somewhere in the back of your mind or even do a youtube/spotify/pandora etc search for subject matter. Perhaps you have a favorite music genre or music decade.
Another thing to note: no matter what you wish you had, the depression can still be there. In my case, it is still here even though I have those things you say you want. Sure, it can help in some ways. But I can knock down every one of those "good things" and tell you why right now they don't matter to me. It's horrible, this depression, isn't it!!???!! The lack of empathy - the darkness above - as if someone colored my insides with different shades of grey crayons - I can logically see the "good" and all the reasons to be happy and feel joy, but I can't actually feel it. Not today, anyway.
I finally made an appt to see a new therapist, but have to wait til the last week of July.
I must say, having cats does help a little bit. Pets can do wonders for me. I'm on two medications for depression (one I just started as a replacement for another).
Like you, I'm tired of talking to professionals. At my age, I know the techniques and suggestions and therapy patterns (CBT & DBT), but if my brain is stuck, the knowledge just hits a wall and falls downward, ever to be absorbed and acted upon. I'm gonna try again, though. It's what we must do - try again! Remembering even the smallest bits of goodness & good times we've experienced can show us there is hope to get back there at some point.
I hope you write again soon. :)
