Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
Subclavian vein thrombosis - scared
I'm 21 and before being diagnosed with a DVT I was pretty healthy. I exercised regularly, had a reasonable diet and didn't smoke.
So this all seems a bit unfair. I was diagnosed earlier this month and have had a number of blood tests done (I am still waiting for the results of some).
I have been told that i have elevated levels of factor viii and an antithrombin deficiency.
Also, i have thoracic outlet syndrome for which im due to see a vascular surgeon to have some scans done.
I'm a bit scared and struggling to stay calm about everything. I have started back in university today and that is just adding to the pressure.
Just looking for someone who has experience of this sort of thing.
Look forward to hearing from you.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Going back to school and getting back into your routine can sometimes cause swelling and fatigue because you're body is adjusting to being more active. Don't fret about that. It will improve. I think too that going back to school will help you get your mind of things. It's important to be around friends and reestablishing some normalcy.
Hang in there!
Hopefully your doctors can help provide a treatment plan and you can start to get back to some normalcy. It will get a little easier with time.
