Hi, everyone. I have a question about warfarin. Now that I'm a lifer and buying it by the case, I'm starting to think about looking for lower cost sources than my Walgreen's. If you were in the US, where would you look online? Any recs for good places? Anything to look out for?

Things I would consider:
--Call around. Consumer Reports has done several recent studies on drug costs and it seems like the price can vary wildly from location to location. Walmart, in particular, tends to offer a lot of drugs for a low price. You might just try calling a number of different pharmacies (including independents among that) to see who works best with your insurance for the cheapest cost. If you have no insurance, this can be a good exercise too.
--See if your insurance has a three-month supply program. In my case, I'd pay $10 for three months supply and it would be mailed to me (if I chose to use the mail-order pharmacy).
--See if your doctor can write a script for a three-month supply. Sometimes, insurance will treat this as one prescription and you'll only have to pay one co-pay to get three months worth.
--Another possible option is to buy larger doses and break the pills up. If you take 5mg a day, for example, you could see if your doc will write a script for 10mg pills and you can break them in half. Some insurances don't like this.
All things considered, I've found that warfarin is one of the cheaper drugs out there. You may just have to do some research/work to figure out what the cheapest option is for you.
I would try to consolidate your mgs so you don't have to have several bottles of different mgs, if that's what's happening for you. For instance, my dosage has ranged anywhere from 11 to 15 mgs a day over the years. So I always us 10 mg tablets and 2 mg tablets. The 2mgs can be made into several different dosages, because I can break them in half, to create anyway from 1-5 mgs out of 2mgs. So I typically get 30 tablets of 10 mgs and 60 tablets of 2 mgs a month.
