I LOST weight initially, but I think that was because I stopped drinking beer as soon as I started the coumadin and Lovenox shots. Since then I have read where limited alcohol intake is OK, so I will have a beer or two and not worry about it at all. I'm about right where I was before the DVT with my weight as I was 160 this AM when I got my blood checked for the IN/PRT (which was 2.9-THANK GOD!). Some of my weight gain was due to a week at a class where I was doing nothing but being a BUMP on a LOG and then still eating a big dinner in the evenings. try exercising more and remember to stay hydrated. Hydration is a chore for me because I like coffee and diet cokes....a lot. Both are diuretics which do not keep you hydrated.

Other things could cause my weight gain. I was not working out for 4 mos. Lost alot of muscle, now put some back. Then also I'm eating alot of carbs. I love scones.blueberry trader joes! And whole foods. Even tho it's less sugar has fat and carbs. But I think warfarin is a culprit still. I think it seriously messes up your entire system espec. Intestinal etc. Well I still think it screws alot of stuff up.

I gained weight after the PE because I wasn't as active as I was prior to the PE. Plus, I struggled again with some food issues from way back, ie binge eating , after the PE. I believe it was from the stress of this major, life threatening event in my life. Weight gain, body issues, all of it, mess with your head that's for sure. I empathize with feeling freaked out by the weight gain.

With that said, I'll take my fat ass over dropping dead from a clot any day.

You are coming on as a bit of an overbearing salesman Dave. If you'd like to sell something on this site, purchase a banner ad through google.

If you sincerely believe what you are saying, that's fine, but it's still considered alternative medicine. It may in fact be valid, but, it does not invalidate the fact that warfarin is an effective and safe treatment for the overwhelming population of DVT sufferers, even in spite of any unpleasant side effects.

Please do tone it down a bit and be sure to clearly state that you are discussing new, experimental, or alternative therapies that are not yet widely accepted.

I gotta agree. You go from a post on weight gain to this tangent on, well, I don't really know what you're point is, honestly. What is it that you want. If you want someone on this site to tell you that it's ok to take a cocktail of supplements over warfarin, good luck.Can't think of many of us who'd tell you that it sounds like a better alternative, or even an alternative that works nearly as well as warfarin.

No one is dying from warfarin use on this site, that I'm aware of, so there's no reason for the doom and gloom, hysterical, manic sounding posts.
