I am very sad the chat feature is to be discontinued-its been a huge part of my life since I joined DS. Does anyone know of another site that includes this feature-a mental health site that is?

It's going to get hotter here with Thursday being the hottest. It's noon and 75f feels more like 80 or more.I've been cleaning up the deck in this morning and cleaning the windows outside. I really miss the old DS. Once we loose meebo, there will be no way for those of us whose email alerts stopped working to know who's commented on our journals, written a journal or posted on a thread we can no longer watch except to search one thing at a time. :-( (Only nicely stating facts here.)
There are a lot of free chat rooms that you can use, but they are independent & not connected to DS or any other site.
I've used chatzy before. It's a little cumbersome, but it works. What I like about it is that you don't have to sign up for anything or even give an email address. So it's fairly anonymous. You don't have to send your chatting partners an email, you can just send them the link to the chat room. At least, that's how it used to work.
I'm not really sure how meebo work's........or I should say doesn't. But I don't know if not having meebo has anything to do with email alert's.
My meebo has been turned off once I stopped chatting (too many problems) but I still received PM's, hug's and journal's, but not alway's in an alert, and that is VERY frustrating......searching one thing at a time. Especially if you belong to group's and have friend's that write journal's.
Many of them have been so kind to send a PM to let me know they wrote a post or sent a pic.
When I got a message from Team DS today with news about Meebo..........I thought it was going to be GOOD news. Look's like they are moving backwards - instead of forward.
And now I will check the box that says "Email me when others reply to this topic". But I'm thinking..........that will never happen. :-(((

Meebo doesn't haven't any thing to do w/email alerts. It was just that it softened the blow of not having any email alerts since the first migration(!) cuz it was my only way (short of going to my journal & checking several times a day) for me to know if anyone had commented on my journal. It was also a way (short of checking profile by profile) to see who was on line to chat. DS is SUPPOSED to indicate that too, but that feature doesn't work all that well either.
Saying this nicely - only including facts as they pertain to me & my in/ability to us DS..
