Yes this is a big loss for many of us. Sometimes just sending a hug or a private message isn't enough and you need that live one on one.
I might have to try this CHATZY that WV is suggesting.

Having the chat has helped me so much. Especially now, instant msg meaning someone actaully there to talk to now. I will be lost.

Chatzy is good, but it takes longer than the simple button click that the current Meebo system offers.

But once you get onto Chatzy you'll find that WV is right, it is much better. You can get multiple people on it, or you can limit it to just the two of you.

and it runs in a separate window ... not a 'child window' like MEEBO did.

I hope DS considers making a sticky topic containing a link for chatzy and the room information for DS members to log into otherwise nobody will know how to log in to chatzy and those who do will have no one to talk to since they will be the only ones in the chatroom.

At this time, DS is not going to provide a chat service nor will they make an official referral to one.

DS COULD pay Chatzy for an 'official' DS CHATROOM ... and then publicize that particular room as 'the DS Chat service' .. but they are not going to do that ... at least not any time soon.

What that means is ... someone else COULD.....but that is quite a commitment ... and they MIGHT run into legal problems if they use the DS name, website, etc etc in connection with the room.

Therefore, I predict the DS chat will actually be a BUNCH of unofficial Chatzy rooms created 'on the fly' .... ad hoc if you will, by DS members, as needed. There will not likely BE an official DS CHATZY room ... of any kind.

Chat is my lifeline at night. Messages and hugs aren't the same.
The chatzy website looks like you create a chat room and I don't want that. What I discuss with each of my friends is between us, not everyone.
I am not happy like many others that they say they wouldn't be opening another chat.

When you create a chat room in Chatzy only you know about it. If you share that information with one person and they don't share it with anybody else, then BAM you have a private chat room.

Perhaps after people get more experience with it we may be able to come up with some instructions on how to do it!

Thanks to the CL's for clarifying why this is happening and offering us an alternative.

Chatzy is VERY flexible. I KNOW it will meet everyone's needs. As The Pepperman said .. you can create PRIVATE rooms or a whole gang of people. It depends on how you set up your FREE room. All that is needed is a good familiarity with how Chatzy works ... read the HELP section there. There are temporary rooms, 'permenant' rooms, .. it can be configured any way you want it. Then, you can solicit whoever DS member you want to join the room via DS PM. There is nothing more suitable ... in my opinion.
