Details for Next Site Update (DS 2.4.0)
Hi Folks!
Just a quick note that our goal is to schedule the next site update (DS 2.4.0) for sometime during the week after Thanksgiving. We know it's been a while since we posted (this update has been more difficult to develop than others), so we do appreciate your patience! Here’s a list of fixes and changes that will be included in the update (DS 2.4.0):
- The edit profile page is being redone and will offer many different features, such as managing your ignore list and email/notification settings.
- We’re bringing back an improved crisis center feature.
- We’re bringing back a friends in need and members in need feature.
- You’ll have the option to display your age and gender on your profile page.
- You’ll be able to insert links in discussion replies
- You’ll be able to view and edit your status message on mobile devices.
- We fixed an issue where the notification indicator was sometimes a blank white circle and didn't display a notification count.
- When you reply or forward a message there will be a confirmation indicating that your message has been sent.
- The show more button will no longer be displayed if all posts have been loaded.
- Search will close when you click away from it.
- The newsfeed will correctly display special characters.
- The downward triangle used to expand the report/ignore menu will be easier to expand on mobile devices.
- Continual improvements are being made to address the intermittent issue some members have experienced where some buttons are grayed out and don’t work.
More info soon!

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
Will you make it less isolating then the site has become since you switched formats?
Will you bring back all the people who left because the site became so isolated?
No? Didn't think so.
It seems like your demise is so close. So sad, it was a great site.
Whatever you did in the last 12 hours screwed up my ability to post from on my laptop. Or maybe Google Chrome did an update and you haven't synched up
You may recall I had this issue a month ago and it took several people imploring you to fix it on my behalf. It took you 14 days!
How can you possibly think about fixing bells and whistles when you can't get some basic stuff right?
Why bother with "search close" when you click away from it? Who uses search it's pretty worthless.
When will DS restore the old DS? Far better product. More features, more stability, more visitors.
ds is the living definition of insanity. Doing/saying the same things the same way over and over and over ad nauseam and expecting different results.
We are continually asked to wait and wait and wait and wait... AND be patient for all the promised stuff that not only ends up not working, but also seems to cause what little that DID work to break. And that, too, is part of the definition of insanity.
I am sick and tired of:
*having to sign in over and over and over;
*send buttons not working;
*site 404 and 5oo errors;
*broken promises of getting back some of the basics we had on the old more usable site;
*a search that mostly doesn't work;
*9 yr old posts being revived because when the search actually does result in a list of things, they are so old, most of the posters are long gone;
*a search that doesn't work when asking for a user name;
*not being able to insert links in our journals;
*inadequate space and sizing in our journals and OPs in main groups;
* and most of all,
the horrible awful PAINFUL navigation that never seems to get us anywhere, including pages that flip back to the top after having scrolled half way down or hit ctrl/cmd end/down arrow. (It's not my computer or browser, its ds because it NEVER HAPPENS ON ANY OTHER SITE.)
There's a lot more, but I think you get the idea.
Whatever patience I had is long gone. My prediction is that ds will continue to be SNAFU for years to come or until they sell it to someone who cares.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.
Deal in reality and accept the fact the old DS is GONE. The new site has issues we all are aware. Barking about the same problem constantly when it's already a known issue by DS just becomes an
exercise in piling on negativity.
Accept the situation or don't. No one is forcing people to be here. No one is forcing you to use DS. That's what kills me; what reasonable person would continue to engage in something when it's clearly so upsetting to them on an ongoing basis?
Why so negative?? Positivity, people!!!
The diatribes don't affect change. They just seek to draw others in who share in the misery. Not a club I want to be a part of.
