Details for Next Site Update (DS 2.4.0)
Hi Folks!
Just a quick note that our goal is to schedule the next site update (DS 2.4.0) for sometime during the week after Thanksgiving. We know it's been a while since we posted (this update has been more difficult to develop than others), so we do appreciate your patience! Here’s a list of fixes and changes that will be included in the update (DS 2.4.0):
- The edit profile page is being redone and will offer many different features, such as managing your ignore list and email/notification settings.
- We’re bringing back an improved crisis center feature.
- We’re bringing back a friends in need and members in need feature.
- You’ll have the option to display your age and gender on your profile page.
- You’ll be able to insert links in discussion replies
- You’ll be able to view and edit your status message on mobile devices.
- We fixed an issue where the notification indicator was sometimes a blank white circle and didn't display a notification count.
- When you reply or forward a message there will be a confirmation indicating that your message has been sent.
- The show more button will no longer be displayed if all posts have been loaded.
- Search will close when you click away from it.
- The newsfeed will correctly display special characters.
- The downward triangle used to expand the report/ignore menu will be easier to expand on mobile devices.
- Continual improvements are being made to address the intermittent issue some members have experienced where some buttons are grayed out and don’t work.
More info soon!

Woke up feeling very emotional and about to clock in at my place of employment. And can't place it all in writing but not been a good experience with my store manager or his boss. Defamation of my character is a concern. I've been losing appetite and weight. Trying to perform at work to keep myself from hospitalization as a result of toxic masculinity.

I believe DS is listening and doing their best to make things user friendly however I imagine it will be within what Sharecare@email.sharecare.co has laid out
Getting real old.
This is not twitter, and I could never seek help, or help and encourage others with 144 characters or less on a handheld device. I don't even come here at all on my phone, although the cell phone format works better than the Ipad and computer ones. I have very damaged finger tips from big ugly RA nodules. So I am not able to use the touch screen on my Iphone accurately. Add auto-spell check, and phones are a direct path to illiteracy and misunderstandings.
Maybe DS could keep this format alive, and let us old people go back to the more user friendly DS format?
The real irony of focusing on hand held devices, is that DS is supposed to be a support group for people having physical, emotional, mental or relationship problems. Most young people do not have diseases that they need support for.
It is those of us with older bodies who need help. So in creating a web page that is for people who do not need it, you have ironically created a web page that is not functional for anyone.
Just thinking out loud here! Sigh!
It has been mentioned before, the DS admins meet with CLs via phone a few times per year. Most of the CLs who participate in those calls (they are not mandatory for us, some of us are working or even sleeping when the meeting is held) push really hard for the fixes and changes that people want. I like the idea of people keeping the pressure up, that keeps me current with what people are wanting from the system.
I go through phases, but there are times when I can be so painfully optimistic that I make Pollyanna look gloomy and negative!
I will go out and buy a lottery ticket; if I win big I'll buy DS and do everything people want and more! he he he
I've had a chronic debilitating disease since I was 36years old. Age may have something to do with ease of using on line tools, social media, etc, but illness can affect anyone, and there are many groups here with young people that need support too. I belong to groups for serious conditions where I've seen members as young as 16.
Has anyone considered creating a group so that the lists of on going issues are tracked in that group, by post (one post for frozen buttons, one post for server error, etc). That way each issue has its own post and people can update the post if they continue to have that issue. Otherwise stuff just gets buried here don't you think, especially when several issues are listed in one post? Just a thought if the goal is ongoing tracking of on going issues.
It was just a thought to easily identify issues since they're often buried here. That way people know what issues DS is aware of, which are new issues, which are the same old issues etc.
Very annoying.
If anyone from DS is interested, please contact me. I am trained in project management, system design/analysis, programming, QA, and general " what can we do to make this thing work" experience, training and intelligence. Come on. Let's go, DS. Let's do this thing right.
OK, I take back the "overthrowing" comment. I just mean, small fixes do not fix the big banner, the lack of readability of the threads and all the other things we need to change - not fix, but change!
The search facility, seems to do all of DS but doesn't appear to be an option just to search within a group. Will this be taken into consideration some time please?
With thanks
