MRSA is a staph infection that is resistant to anti-biotics! They call it a "Super-bug." I'm under the impression that many of us can carry it, but it may not affect us, and it's not an issue until it causes an infection.... reactive instead of proactive... just like the government
It seems to me that CF patients may be more likely candidates for this infection, because you guys take lots of antibiotics...
Did you get it from the hospital or clinic?! Do you know how they intend to treat it? Did it show up on your skin or in your lungs?!
I gather that this infection is more of a pain in the ass than anything else. However Miss, your new place is full of new germs that you aren't used to!!! Try to keep your space clean... wipe surfaces of your apartment with disinfecting wipes/sprays whatever... ESPECIALLY the shower!!! Wash your hands and don't share towels or razors, or wash cloths... cups even, I wouldn't even share a drink!! Whatever about being rude, you gotta protect yourself.
Never had it, and not so sure of it's long term affects, but if you ever need encouragment... I'm here for you
I talked to one of the nurses at the hospital who specializes in cf. She told me it's common that cystics will get MRSA in their lungs. Usually, you'll test positive for it, and not even have symptoms. It's like how you can test positive for mono when it turns out you can't ever recall having mono.
I have tons of CF friends who have either had MRSA (pre-transplant) or have it now. When their docs think it's their MRSA causing their flare-up, they just use certain antibiotics that specifically target the MRSA and they get better. I have actually had a couple of friends get rid of it permanently, but usually you are stuck with it. It's manageable though, and shouldn't affect your eligibility for transplant if you ever decide to go that route. Hope this helps!

PS.. one of my best friends has had it for 8 years now, and is still doing great!
I have CF and when I turned 43 I also became infected with MRSA. I have now had MRSA for 5 years. It is difficult to treat when it colonises your lungs. The main treatment is IV Vancomycin and you need to have regular IV treatment to keep it in check. It is similar to the other bacteria, perhaps a bit more troublesome in the limiting anti-biotic treatment options.
Overall, it is the stigmatisation of MRSA that you will have to manage as well, as many CF clinics will isolate you from other people with CF.
Good luck, hopefully if they hit the MRSA hard initially, you may get rid of it for good?
