Seriously, if you have a low RBC that would explain it. I noticed you did not mention that but I just wanted to throw that out there. If the blood is not circulating the proper amount our minds do play tricks on us. Stress, as you said, can also play a big factor in memory. When we are stressed our minds tend to stay more focused on our problems more that trivial appointments or what time to take what med etc...
And yeah, I agree with Levi. Not sure how helpful it is to be a big downer anytime someone mentions surgery or medication. We have an effing chronic disease. So options are limited sometimes. People need to do what they can and want to be well, whatever that is.
