I used to have diarrhea with my UC and now, for several years, I almost never do, even when I'm flaring. I'm usually constipated so I take a fiber supplement , like Benefiber and drink a ton of water, which seems to help getting stuff moving. I also occasionally do Milk of Magnesia before I go to bed.
Before you start taking a bunch of stuff though, let your doc know. Not so much for his permission, but he should know what you're taking so that he can factor that in when he's assessing your disease, symptoms, future treatment, etc
