With the study I'm with (web address is on a previous reply with this topic), you have to qualify for the Randomized Group and then the computer spits out the winners of the procedure. The rest of the group will be observed for a year with more testing during that year and if all goes well with the people in that group, you can have the coils implanted then. There is no "placebo" group with this study.
I have no idea how many people are in the Randomized Group. I will ask my PA and get back to you.
By the way, speaking of my PA, she called me today and gave me my procedure dates: Sept. 29th- consult with the anesthesiologist and the procedure will be on October 2nd.
