No one knows if e-cigs are safe: There has not been enough scientific research on it, and certainly there are no studies of the long term effects.

Just today I read an article published in May of this year. New research suggests that e-cigarette vapor produces tiny particles that users suck deep into their lungs, potentially causing or worsening respiratory diseases.

Thanks, grannie, for posting that link. As you can see, these reports are only a year old; they're still just learning about ecigs.

In my experience, it felt after some weeks as if the glycerin was coating my lungs. That may not have been the case at all, but that's what it felt like. All I know is that my breathing became much worse. I would have stayed with the ecigs if that had not occurred.

Our 24 year old grandson came to live with us about a year ago. After his freshman year in college, he came to visit us over the summer. He was smoking those thinner cigarettes like Tiparilos (?) He said he would quit when he graduated from college. He came out to visit us again after his freshman year in college. Now he was smoking regular cigarettes. He said he would quit after he graduated from college. He came to live with us after he gradauted from college. He was still smokling cigarettes and has lived with us for almost two years. His smoking had increased quite a bit. About 8 months ago he started using the e-cigarettes and we thought maybe this was a good sign. However, now he alternates between cigarettes and the e-cigs. Probably doing double damage to his lungs. Here's the ironic part: My husband (his grandfather) smoked for 58 years. He is on oxygen 24/7, has emphysema, COPD, and asthma, cannot exert himself without losing his breath, takes inhalers, is weak, has severe muscle loss, has lost most of his eyesight and years ago, due to congestive heart failure, was fortunate enough to get a heart transplant back in 1997 but the heart transplant lead the way for other problems. He also takes at least 15 different prescriptions on a daily basis. Oh, and he is on kidney dialysis. I truly believe that the smoking he did for all those years lead to the congestive heart failure, the loss of eyesight due to high blood pressue, etc., and of course, the COPD and emphyema. My grandson (who also has ADD and has an addictive personality) sees this poor man struggling every day to breathe and how he is tied to that oxygen tube, yet my grandson continues to smoke. God should have not let us think when we were young "I am invincible, it will never happen to me!"

reading BarryO description of the things he is trying, makes me once again just be amazed at how addictions get ahold of us & my prayers are with you if you decide to quit the nicotene habit.
barryO- did you say you have COPD? or are you just trying to stop smoking with the e-cigs? there is also a smoking board that might help you quit if that's what you want.

I like AnnBowers still use my ecig/evape. Without this I am afraid there might have been incidents in the past 23 munths that would have driven me back to cigarettes. I believe my herbal non nicotine ecigs/evape cigs have kept me away from the many purposly added toxins in commercial tobacco products.
BTW...Has anyone seen the commercial for the NEW E-CIG that is "created by TOBACCO EXPERTS"? Aren't these the Aholes that tried to kill us in the first place with their poisonous additives in their commercial tobacco products...and I'm gonna trust their products again?

I tried e-cigs twice and both times I just about stopped breathing altogether. I just could not get any air and it scared the heck out of me.
