Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. What I can tell you is that their abusive nature gets worse as does your life while together. A narcissist constantly needs more and more attention to fill a void in them. They are charming while perusing you in but once you are hooked in their interest turns elsewhere.
Now that I have left for good (four months have not spoken with him). What is helping me is to; focus on creative things. read lots of books to help you understand what I have been through.
Most importantly do not be afraid of the pain it will over time diminish and leave you as a more understanding person as a result. Good luck

There were so many good moments in our relationship as well and I have a problem accepting that even those good moments were just a tool for him to get what he wanted. Like, I remember something and then ask myself, how can even THAT good moment be a lie as well?
Almosthealed listed "Victim and victimizer believe in their own uniqueness " and I still feel that we had something unique but I have to accept that he'd probably done the same thing to others in the past and will continue to do so. So at the end there's nothing unique about him or us.
Your story is almost identical to mine, except I did do something wrong and tried to get him back and pursued for a week or two, he didn't want us anymore, but he would call as a friend.I told him not to do this and now all I want him to do is call, it has been 1 week since we talked, but 3 weeks since we actually were together.
So, I completely cut off any contact and I'm sitting here wondering if he will ever approach me again. I can't help it.
What does anyone think? Do you think he might call after I have left him completely alone.
I did do the mistake that ended it.
I don't think you should reproach anything to yourself. That's exactly what we do and we shouldn't. I am learning everyday not to let the thoughts of "what if" or "If only I didn't do this or that" take a priority in my mind for with that he's actually gaining control over you.
Be happy he is away. He's like a drug you don't need. Stay strong in detachment from him.
I really am suffering, I hope by another month I will be using all the advice all of you have given me.
If I was giving you advice I would be saying the same advice.
I am in al-anon and go three times a week and it does help.
It has been two months since the break-up and my bf comes in where I work to bring a payment for his attorney and continues to hang around until I was off and asked me to go to lunch. I said I was not hungry but I had to go get my oil changed and go to costco, he asked to go along, we shopped and had pizza played pee wee golf and did all the rides and games at the arcade we talked and talked but not anything about us, it was so nice and wonderful and we had a great time, we even rode the race cars and he had to actually put me in and pull me out, then he went on a wild ride with me and he didn't want to but he did it for me. I took him to his car he hugged me and we both left. The next morning at work he sent me a funny Thanksgiving card and called me and talked to me my whole lunch hour.
I have not heard anything since and I am not going to worry, I just don't know what is next,if anything. Is there any advice out there?
"YAY ME!" "YAY TO YOU ALL TOO!" (Almosthealed) your words were very helpful,
Thanks!
Love,
Hamster
I apologize in advance if you all have seen it, but I'm sure there are new victims coming here every day.
Also I would like to state that my exN was more than one of these types of Narcissists. I believe he was like 4 of them.
