Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. I am starting to realize I may be in a codependent relationship. My husband has been diagnosed with sleep apnea and is finding it hard to find the right treatment. I was however trying to be the loving wife and do everything I could to deal with it. But recently I started trying to find someone to talk to and it turned into more and blew up in my face. I now however have no idea how I will live without my husband if he does decide to divorce me. I feel like I need him to survive. I also have problems with compulsie lying to try to not hurt him or others and dont even realize I do it until it blows up in my face. Please HELP!

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

My wife eventually divorced me after she found a replacement and I was homeless for a few days but eventually things turned out for the better for both of us. We are good friends now even though we live separate lives.
There are many good books you can read that will help you through your issues. "Codependant no more" is one of them.
Good luck and I hope it all works for you
God Bless
My view too is that telling lies makes everything worse.
First thing that I had to do to start my own recovery was to stop my own lies and it was brutal hard to stop because the truth takes courage as it takes risk, but being honest and true is the best and most powerful way to fix everything and to turn our life around.
The truth will set ye free - truer words have never been spoken.
A big part of telling lies to others is that we tell lies to our self and so our entire life becomes lies and more lies.
Your husband surely knows about the lies, and so only the cold hard truth will reach into his heart and soul, and in-fact only the cold hard truth will reach into your own heart and soul.
Truth and lies are a big important boundary line, because lies violate the truth, and it violates other people as we violate our self.
One point in my life was when I changed around 30 years old (I am 62 now) is that I discovered to my shame that I was an incompetent liar, in that other people never believed my lies but they never tell us that they know our lies, but they tell other people, and so all of my friends and my family and work associates and even strangers knew my lies, and I thought that I was fooling everyone when it turned out that I had only been fooling my own stupid self.
That is true, and I found this out by myself telling true and me being honest and then other people started to respect me and they started to trust me and I started to like myself as I became an honest person - and that was the true beginning of my recovery.
We tell lies trying not to hurt others, but the lies hurt our self, and other people really do want the truth even when it hurts.

Would do whatever it takes in recovery
To get myself better and stronger. That
Journey will be all about you not your
marriage or your husband.
I go to therapy, i also go to 12 step groups.
Much of the old behaviors stem from our
Upbringing and that is difficult to reparent
And reprogram us all on our own. Reading
The self help does not change us Much as
Many people would like to think. Its deep
down stuff And its hidden. We often marry
What we know. My ex and i come from the
Same mix and same type of mothers.
