Cirrhosis Support Group
Cirrhosis is a consequence of chronic liver disease, most commonly caused by alcoholism and hepatitis C. Ascites is the most common complication of cirrhosis and is associated with a poor quality of life, increased risk of infections, and a poor long term outcome. Liver damage from cirrhosis cannot be reversed, but treatment can stop or delay further progression and...

Had that not happened, by the grace of God, I surely would not be alive today since I've had HepC for 43, oh yeah, 43, years. That translates to drinking heavily - I was a binge drinker, like every weekend - on top of my diseased liver for almost 20 years.
I've always known I had Guardian Angels who worked overtime for many years -
I have spent too much time today reading about how tx can exacerbate liver disease/cirrhosis. I have a strong feeling that at my age, Interferon would be .... let's just say, VERY hard on me - and I could be one of those who went into ESLD because of it. Just a strong feeling, but I believe that God is speaking to me. Now, what happens if I DON'T treat? Well, I guess the virus continues to destroy my liver. That's why I'm going to do what you are doing, PD, HepTech supplements. And wait and pray for the new all oral NO Interferon meds.
Tired today? Yep. I read something about 4 p.m. being the time some of you feel the fatigue hit hard - same with me. I can set my clock by it now.
Other days, I am up at 7:30 and by 9:00 I am "toast".........have to lie down and do nothing.
Difficult on my husband, I am sure, as he never knows from one day to the next what we will be doing if anything........Oh well........name of the game. Hugs and prayers.......CarolLentz
I get scared especially now that I'm caring for my mom we lost our dad 2wks ago, and she had to come home with me, she's wheelchair bound, and has alzeimer I have to literally do everything for her like one would do for a newborn...I don't want to stick her in a home, if I had mucho dinero then maybe I would put her up in a great luxurious retirement home but it is what it is so untill I have breath in my lungs, and a lil muscle (lol) in my body, I will take care of my mom I pray everyday for the strength and health to care fo
I pray for everyone on this page, grant us the strength to overcome any obstacle this virus puts in our way
Indeed "tired" does not describe what we feel. Neither does "fatigue". Those are things people feel who don't have advanced liver disease. We have something a bit beyond that. I have noticed that whenever I tell someone I'm really tired, I hear a variety of, "Oh (sigh), so am I." Nope, not like this they aren't. For me, it is depressing, so when I start feeling "the crush" (there's a term, eh?), I get depressed.
I join you in your prayer, clover.
Well said, friend!
It's not random chance, nor is it evolution from pond slime and/or the lesser primates, nor any of the other nonsense. It's Intelligent Design by our sovereign God, orderly, efficient and beautiful beyond description! Not intended as sacreligious, but...the God of creation is one outrageously smart, talented and creative cookie!!
But so far, no cancer like I had before the transplant. My doctors want to start treatments, probably triple tx, in Jan. or so. I'm concerned because it's so new with post-transplant patients, but it's in God's hands, and I am trusting that He won't lead my through any doors He doesn't want be to go through.
I had a nice Thanksgiving weekend with my siblings, since my kids that live close by were with inlaws. Today, I'm putting up my Christmas decorations in my new apartment, then tomorrow, I will make up for time with my little grandkids that I missed through Thanksgiving. Some of my kids and grandkids live in other states. Right now I feel good. So I'm making the most of today. "I know who holds tomorrow, and I know who holds my hand" (words from an old hymn). Love you all. Marilyn
Enjoy those grandkids because they are truly gifts from God. Don't know what I ever did with life before mine came along. One is 21 now and the youngest is 9. Such a short few years it seems.
Remember that you are being prayed for and you are loved............
Hang in there kid! Hugs and prayers.........CarolLentz
I'm still having the daily "crush" of fatigue. I'm tired all day and at some point I just crash out for a couple hours. My liver is talking to me. I'm having an internal war about whether to treat or not. I am afraid of tx. I really am. Treating at my age (65), and being not in good health to begin with (years of junk food, etc.), I have to wonder what tx will do to me.
I've never treated - and my body seems to be telling me to do it now - that's why I have this fatigue - to remind me that I am sick. Before this started a few weeks back, it was easier to tell myself I'd wait for the new all orals. But I guess I can try tx - if it's too rough, we stop.
There's uncertainty about treating, but if I don't do it, there's not much uncertainty there. I will progress to ESLD, and I have a feeling that the virus is moving much much faster now than it did in previous decades. Age will cause that.
I will see my doctor after the holidays. He's left the decision up to me, of course, but I need more input from him, I really do. He's 60 miles away from me, but I guess if I had an emergency, I can go to the local hospital. What I'll want from him is a set of documents that will tell any ER providers what I'm on - and something that my local hospital can access from his hospital in a computer file or something. But Marilyn, I am so afraid. My faith is not strong like yours.
You are so brave- doing triple tx post transplant, which is a whole new world for the medical field. But again, your faith allows you to accept anything. I admire you so much.
