Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Now, for most of that year, I actually took more like five codone a day so wound up with a significant stockpile in the medicine cabinet.
Then I had radiation therapy - which killed all my abilities to handle pain or my emotions. My husband's ideal is that no matter what it takes, I should not be in pain, especially to the point that I have to just lie in bed. I started to take my pain meds as needed without counting how many I was taking a day...
Fast forward three months to five days ago when I realized that I had just 20 tablets of hydrocodone left, but 14 days before my next refill. I figure that I had been taking 8 or 9 tablets a day to have burned through the extras left in the cabinet.
As it is a controlled substance, it is not like I could go and say I screwed up. So as of five days ago, I went from 8 or 9 tabs a day to ONE. I am in agony from my two herniated discs and crushed vertibrea - pending spinal reconstructive surgery - which was postponed due to the cancer.
My refill should be in the mail today - but let me assure you that coming off the hydrocodone was not fun, even without dealing with the pain I live in.
Well here's my latest "I'm that stupid".... although I didn't pay for it, pain-wise, I definitely did EMBARRASSMENT wise. My oldest daughter and I (she is 28) were shopping in a Ross store (a discount type retail store)....we were looking at some cookware on one of the back aisles, and I didn't see any other people around.
So then Michael Jackson's "Beat It" came on the store PA system. I was having a really hard time keeping myself still, because that song has such a dance beat to it....well, my daughter had always been embarrassed by me doing stupid things (like dancing) in public, so I tried hard to restrain myself.....only I couldn't.
I suddenly broke out in a really bad "moon walk" LOL, which requires backing up, of course. I then bumped into something behind me, and started stumbling, like I was drunk....so I turned around and there stood a man with a shopping cart, laughing his head off! Oh boy, was I ever embarrassed! And my daughter literally disappeared!
Anyway, thought y'all might get a laugh from that one.
My most recent "That was stupid" moment involved my numb fingers - I can't feel anything so I don't know "where or what" they are doing sometimes... I was at work and shut my middle finger in the file cabinet! OUCH! It was weird... I felt that just fine~
and thanks to those who shared their goofy times..:-) :-) :-) :-)
..sometimes you just have to cry..
..sometimes you just have to laugh..
..amd..sometimes you have to do both at the same time..:-) :-) :-)
hugs

Your post made me smile! :D
What a beautiful scene to imagine!
JC, blissfully dancing to a favorite tune. :)
What was the song that got your happy feet dancing?
You're awesome jc. And you're right! It's worth every bit of ache and pain that comes later! I'm always trying to outmaneuver the pain, lol.
