Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
No wonder he hates doctors and hospitals. Although he did drive himself to the ER when he was passing kidney stones. He told me he felt like his kidney was going to explode.
If one feels a need to scream out in DS, shake the very timbers if you will and let loose the verbiage necessary to explain such, in the same manner as one does while alone or driving in their car, BANNED! All apologies "If" anyone thinks I am hijacking this post but there is such a place little known or used that has been around for quite some time within the comfy walls of "Hugs and Chocolates" but most there speak to each other in private rather than the attacks we all have seen far too often on "The Board" , far to often!
There needs to be a place where there are no limits.
There needs to be a place where the tortured souls can voice that which they have been so forced to swallow sans any reminders "to be nice"! that place is waiting for all to come and use it, kick some holes in these walls and throw bricks through Windows7!
Welcome to "Anger Ranting Venting", all are welcome and all opinions are not only allowed but encouraged for what are we if not FREE? Freedom of Speech is supposed to be sacred. It IS OK to yell "Fire" in a crowded theater "If" that theater IS on fire!
Too often we use this place is used to bat symptoms back and forth with very little real information expressed and or exchanged. I do research for anyone at anytime and as stated before am amazed and delighted at the growing number of reference sources available for anyone if they but ask. Ask!
Why don't you start your own group on DS? You said "There needs to be a place where there are no limits" so why don't you create one? I think the turnout would be pretty good as you have made friends here. You could start all the topics you want and no one would accuse you of hijacking anything and you could posts your poetry for those who really want to read them. I think you'd love it.
This group isn't going to change because you think it should. So create your own.
Jancam,
This is a great thread. I like the common sense/no nonsense way you have of expressing yourself.
Hugs to both,
Theresa
also i dont like the tension in this group, yes,we are all in pain, some take pain meds but its no excuse to be judging others on the board..if you have an issue with someone and you want to point out something that may help them but may hurt at the same time....send a message..very simple
just my opinion
amy
Too funny people think you're attacking my post!
I hear ya.....and hi-jack away
I'm starting to think I'm gonna have to do a different post just to clear the air off this one.
I wish DS would allow us to DC our own topics/threads
I had read an earlier post about the pain scale that I found helpful in the ways of expressing pain to docs n others in Med field.
I agree that, to each of us, pain is subjective. Ex...my DH's 3 is likely my 5. And a 5 CA feel like a 10 when it just grinds on and on...
I had had an experience the day before this post that brought home to me what the scale meant by ten.I happened to be on here when this occurred and was not able to communicate to those I was on with what was happening...as I said in topic post.
I don't think there's an attack or insult to any one in it....
How could there be, when I was speaking of MY OWN experience and hoping only to maybe have someone else (any else) glean the same insight that I got from it.
Could we PLEASE not keep this thread going as it does see to be causing tenzion
And that's never my intent.
Hugs peace to all, j.c.
I used my only spoon today to type this damn thing. Haha
Sorry but this issue does effect us all because the docs get numb when everyone says a 10. I am in the ER a lot and everyone says a 10 and it drives me crazy.
"I tell them what happened and that pain is what I use as a point of reference for a 10. That way, they know when I say my pain is a 6 or 7, I'm not exaggerating and they know what a 6 or 7 means with me."
................................................................................................
That is the smartest thing I have read on this thread! I haven't read them all , as I just got tired of thinking "EVeryone is Different!!!" It really is different for everyone!!! But if we were to use your idea of comparing our pain it would indeed give the dr.'s a very clear idea of our pain level much more so than throwing out a #
I love that idea!!!
I realize the dr.'s need something to go on, and I realize that people misuse it but there are many scenarios....you have people who are drug seekers, people seeking attention, and some just don't know what real pain is, stubbing their toe may be the worst pain they have ever experienced in their lives and to them that's a 10.
I say it is a great post, because it got people talking about the pain scale pain and as a support group we all learn from each other. You helped start that.
Don't worry about those trying to hijack your post with their negativity about how they don't like the tension of this room and how they have their own room. We all have a choice to be here or not be here.
The discussion and learnings are more important. Your well being is more important.
I've had 10's a few times and when I describe a 10 to drs I refer to those times. This is what Nealytee also said. I get respect and understanding from drs for being that way.
Hugs,
Toni
Thanks all who have replied - guess that's why they call it a discussion......jc..

If you want to go to the group you should go if you are not crazy about this one, you can then send a invite to all your friends. The suggestion about starting up your own is also good but if there is one you are like I would just stick with that one less work to do.
I also drove myself to the ER when I had a kidney stone did not even know I had one till I saw blood in urine and my hubby said that is what he thought it was I thought I was just having a flare and my back was really hurting more then usually.
They did not even think I had one because I was not down on my knees going in and I was quite calm I learned if I did not move an inch it hurt less and I did not even ask for pain meds.
I guess when you have CP it grooms you for pain and that is a sad fact.
sometimes we write and dont stop and think about how it may look to others,,,most important, the new ones coming on here.i apologize for writing that.i meant no harm
if you really want this post taken down or stopped..you can ask d s....they have done it for me before..
and im sorry you went through such a hard time a few days ago...bless your heart....i hope you never go thru that again...
hugs to you j c
amy
You want to say buck up but it might hurt someones feelings that has never happened before. I have not read one post on here about anyone attacking anyone and the only tension is what someone makes of it.
