Hello All,
It's been a while since I have posted. The reason why is that I'm not in pain anymore. I wanted to share my after pain story for you all and give you all hope.
I was in chronic pain for years. The pain was in my lower back, right hip and buttock and then radiating down my right leg.
Life was miserable, I was in pain, people didn't understand and I was often treated like an addict. Chronic pain already makes you depressed, but add neglect from the medical community and lack of empathy from friends and family and you get a double whammy.
People think that once you have back surgery the pain should be gone. Not true.
I found a good pm doc and built a good relationship with her. She believed my pain and prescribed me medications to help me function. I was on vicodin, xanax (anxiety- later found out I was bipolar), soma and oxycontin.
The shame in taking oxycontin was profound. There was so much in the media about it and I didn't want any of my friends to know. The word alone would send people into a tailspin. Despite all the medication I was still in constant pain. The heavy medications did not make me pain free- just able to function so I could work...barely.
This July it will be two years that my pain went away. For 4th of July I rented a cabin with a hot tub. For 4 or 5 days I stayed in the hot tub for hours stretching. I am not exaggerating, my waking moments were in that hot tub trying to relax and bring relief to my body.
I don't know what I did, but somehow I snapped my back into place. On the drive home I already knew something was different. The radiating pain was gone. A day after that all my pain was gone.
Within a month of not being in pain anymore I was off all meds all on my own. I didn't need them anymore. It was amazing how when you feel good you don't feel you need the medication any longer. Sometimes I get a flare up and will head to urgent care, but it happens maybe 2 to 3 times a year.
For years I questioned my sanity. I questioned myself if I was really in pain or just wanted narcotics. Maybe I was an addict. Maybe all this pain wasn't real. Maybe so many things.
I want to bring peace to many of you who question your own sanity. If you suffer from intense chronic pain you will want relief. When you aren't in pain anymore, if you ever get to that point, you will be amazed at how quickly you no longer need medication.
I wish you all the best. I wish you find relief from the pain you are in. Thank you to this community for being there for me when I suffered greatly.
For all of you I hope one day you will be pain free. That is all we ever want.

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

I know this is stupid, but after not being able to find a job after graduation for almost two years, I ended up just taking an online teaching job because I couldn't find anything in my field. I was trying to get out of teaching and I feel so devastated. I felt this crushing feeling when I signed the paperwork and when I was in the meetings. I know that sounds so dramatic but it is how I felt. It...

When I was younger I was on Oxycotin, Oxycodon, Soma, Meclizine, and Compazine. As the pain went down so did my need for the medication. I was able to stop all meds and build back up to biking, hiking, etc. But I started at a 10 pain level, screaming into my pillow. So it was a lot of work and determination, as you have already shown.
Now that I have additional injuries and diseases I know I won't get to 0 pain, but if I can get it to stay around 5, I would be happy.
Congratulations to you. Be careful, but enjoy every moment.
Hugs-RJ
Sending good thoughts your way.
Take gentle care,

Glad the stretching regimen worked for you - that's why most physical therapists emphasize stretching. And isnt it great to be able to reduce pain meds?!
I have been reading posts on websites for years about some people taking up to 30 Hydrocodone's per day! I have only ever taken 7 per day one time on a really bad day, and for the most part I average 5 per day. How can anyone take that many pills? A lot of doctors do know the difference between addiction and dependence. It doesn't take that much common sense to see that most pain patients are on stable doses of their medications for long periods of time.
Thank you for posting this. I know that there is life after the pain ends. The only problem is that some us have conditions that can't be corrected with surgical intervention or stretching. I hope your pain continues to go down! Hugs!
Obvioulsy your profile is set to private, would give you a hug -

I had bad sciatica pain and I jumped in the hot tub. It usually makes me feel worse, but along with a you tube video exercise and the hot tub, it went back into place.
When our weather changed last weekend from hot n humid to cold and highs of 50 to 60, my whole jaw and upper teeth was a pain level of 10 for two days. Horrible! !
Hope you continue to find relief.
