Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Well I am going to try this again. Yesterday I wrote a post on here and today it is gone. Idk what happened. It had to be me because one of my other check ins didn't post either.
Anyway, the countdown starts. My surgery is definitely booked for the 28th. I am not really crazy about the hospital though. I usually have my surgeries (or I should say the last 4 surgeries) at a medical center 45 minutes from my house. This other hospital is a Level 1 trauma center about an hour from my home. The only saving grace is that they recently built a new orthopedic spine institute with all private rooms. It is supposed to be clean and the nurses are supposed to be great. The other hospital doesn't have any surgical openings until the end of May. The pain is really driving my decision as well as my nerves. I really don't want to wait for surgery for another 6 weeks or more. I have never been to this hospital before so there is always fear of the unknown.
I have done some research about the C2-3 level and I am really scared. I am also frightened of the pain I will feel at the double fusion (front and back). When a doc tells you it will be painful your mind goes into auto panic.
I know I am rambling but I am extremely nervous. Sorry.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I am like you I would hear pain from doctor and then get a little antsy.
At the time of visit did you have a chance to discuss pain management during your stay in the hospital? If you are under pain management care have you discussed it with their office?
All in for support . Prayers and positive thoughts.

Hippy, I didn't know it at the time but he does most of his surgeries out of there, so I am comfortable as long as he is comfortable. From past experience I will have a pain pump like the other times I was there. As far as my pain mgt doc goes, the office procedures are that they handle the pain medication, but the last time I was there the doctor stated that he believed I should let my surgeon handle so I am up in the air. I have an appt 4/26 so I will confirm it then. Thanks for support. I really appreciate it and need it at this time.
Annette I really missed you. If I thought I could get away with it and it took care of my pain I would do it in a heartbeat. But we both know the answer to that. Thank you for making me smile. Not doing too much of that lately.

GrammyBear- that is such a sweet offer. On my last lumpectomy the doctor was so blown away that I did not have any family at the hospital, that she held my hand until i was knocked out.
Jasmine, if you have confidence in this doctor then have faith that he only works at hospitals that meet his standards. Sounds like you are in good hands.
Prayers and lots of positive energy coming your way.
