Well I am going to try this again. Yesterday I wrote a post on here and today it is gone. Idk what happened. It had to be me because one of my other check ins didn't post either.
Anyway, the countdown starts. My surgery is definitely booked for the 28th. I am not really crazy about the hospital though. I usually have my surgeries (or I should say the last 4 surgeries) at a medical center 45 minutes from my house. This other hospital is a Level 1 trauma center about an hour from my home. The only saving grace is that they recently built a new orthopedic spine institute with all private rooms. It is supposed to be clean and the nurses are supposed to be great. The other hospital doesn't have any surgical openings until the end of May. The pain is really driving my decision as well as my nerves. I really don't want to wait for surgery for another 6 weeks or more. I have never been to this hospital before so there is always fear of the unknown.
I have done some research about the C2-3 level and I am really scared. I am also frightened of the pain I will feel at the double fusion (front and back). When a doc tells you it will be painful your mind goes into auto panic.
I know I am rambling but I am extremely nervous. Sorry.

You are a determined and strong person.
I think you have more figured out then you think.
Your doctor sounds great and seems to have a top location and good support to do the op.
Take advantage of that.
Maybe focus on the after bit and getting well. But certainly voice your concerns before you go in.
I sat with my surgeon and said ''well have you considered going in this way'' and "if you do it like this you won't be moving much muscle" and "have you thought about what if it goes wrong". I basically was telling him how to do his job. I felt silly at the end but he said its ok if I need to walk through it all to feel comfortable then that's what I need to do and he is there to help me through that and answer my concerns.

and also had neck surgery.. she was not young.. she was a granny.. but older than me. she was lovely, happy, kind, thoughtful and was off to see her grand children.
I have had surgery at hospitals I did not want to go to. and it has been quite a surprise - lets hope this this one is a positive experience.
