Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Did they give you a return appointment? Maybe the Lyrica will help. I don't know much about Fibro. We will be here if you need us.
David.
I'm so sorry your appt was so crappy.
I am so sad when I hear about one of us having an office visit with a doctor, PA or NP that has no compassion.
I'm a member of a fibromyalgia support group here at Daily Strength.

I recommend you find another medical group. I know it's a lot of work to switch, but the benefit is having them on your side.

Did your doctor call in the authorization into the insurance the whole process should take 5 minutes so if it is not authorized yet someone did not do their job and you should make some phone calls.
Did you call your doctor for the authorization? That is the first step and then call your insurance to make sure they did it.
Alot of those pain sites say they offer medications but that is the medications they offer is lyica and stuff like that, sorry it did not work out, your first thought of it is to good to be true looks like this one was but dont give up and keep on looking for that one caring doctor he is out there somewhere.
you migth be amazed what lyica can do but do go they can help if your docs seemed to be unsure hugs minnie
Now I know alot of medical people who are so very nice and it makes a difference and you would think they would have workshops of sorts for medical field employees to go to. This would only boost up their business and make more money.
I know you were holding out a lot of hope for this clinic - is there anywhere else you can try for better care.
Hugs and peace, Lisa
No scripts and the one my doc prescribed Monday, still hasn't gone through!!!
God knows what my doc will decide after she gets the report from this NP.
I am so sorry that you had such a crappy visit with this PM group, my believe is that if you do not know how to treat pain, and understand people that are in pain, you should just get out of the business! Hun, when I was looking for a PM Doc in 07, I went to 6 duds before my new NS recommended me to my wonderful PM Doc that I still have, but like I said, I had 6 dissapointing appointments before Dr.Velasco came into my life.
I know that you mention once that you really don't think that there are that many PM Doc's in your area, sometimes we have to travel a bit further to get treated, and it is worth it! so try to look outside of your area, even if it is an hour drive, it will be worth it to you.
When I found Dr.Velasco, I lived in the Fla.Keys, and he is/was in Miami, I had to drive about 2 hours each way, but it was worth it! So try that and see if you get a decent Doc within driving distance. Check these websites; you might hit the jackpot! www.youdontlooksick.com, www.doctorsforpain.com, and there's another one that I can not think of right now, but when I remember, I will post it for you.
Finding a good PM Doc is like finding the proverbial needle on the haystack, so please, do not give up! Check out those sites, call your local hospital and ask the triage nurse if she knows of any pain management Doctor's in your area, sometimes when we look outside of the box, we find what we were looking for.
Big Hugs,
I've found relief with hydrocodone added to my prozac. I really hope you're able to find a good, caring doctor to work with you.
Take care....Elizabeth
Tipper posted an article that perfectly describes the proper uses of narcotics. If they allow the person to function, they are being used properly.
Addicts seem to always need more and more no matter what. CP'ers, including Fibro sufferers, need more until they reach a theraputic level.
You can't expect that all pain will be gone. But from your post it sounds like you feel like I did a couple years ago when I started my journey. I get enough relief from my meds that I can function.
It took a very long time and many appointments with PM's to find one who would treat me properly. Hang in there.
I made multiple appointments with doctors until I found one who helped me. I had to try many useless meds first but the end of the road is worth it.
Why do you think they were giving you back to your PCP? Did they say that. I have never heard of that so I am a bit confused.
I would look around like Tipper said and see what you can find as she said you may have to travel a bit as there is not a PM doctor like there are PCP on every corner.
If your Prescription did not go through it might not ever have you called to see why they are not filling it? a authorization takes only minutes to do and if it is not they might have denied it so you really should look into it.
