sunny and little, i remember the musical too and that was my first thought, but maybe i can blame that on TCM. remember the commercial, too, along with who wears short shorts. not related, but same time.
let's all raise our hands for a group high five. pain and stress-free.

Once again, you don't have to be old to know musicals. Unless I'm old. Is 34 (35 in October) old? I mean, my body feels about 75 half the time, but I act like I'm 19 and look like I'm 22, so it all evens out I guess.

Growing up, almost all I watched were musicals (was raised in a fundamentalist Christian household, and those were clean enough for us to watch). Here's a list of the ones I can remember, and I can probably sing a couple of songs from each:

South Pacific
7 Brides for 7 Brothers
Calamity Jane
Oklahoma
My Fair Lady
West Side Story
White Christmas
The King and I
The Sound of Music
Camelot
Annie

And that's just the one's I can remember off the top of my head. Throw in all the Disney songs, and the fact that my sister liked to play songs from Broadway shows (Including Phantom, Miss Saigon, and Les Miserables) on the piano, and you quite literally never knew when someone in my family was going to start singing along with something.

Thank goodness we can all carry a tune. Good genetics, I guess.

By the way, I was the Phantom. I'm an alto/tenor. :D

Great List and I had forgotten about Annie. How could I? I did a little act with my neice when she was in first grade where we danced and all that.

Well, I'm 41 and I do remember the commercials.....but didn't they say Wash that gray right outta my hair?

I love musicals because I went to college on a theatre and music scholarship. We did South Pacific, Little Shop of Horrors, Phantom of the Opera (that was fun since I got to play the Mezzo Soprano).

Ever wonder what might have been if you had followed your dreams instead of being practical. If had known how I was going to be at mid-life, I would have so gone for it. Who knows?

I think I know what, or who this is about and your not the only one that's happy about it.

Great list SGTRJ! I remember Camelot was shown every year on Thanksgiving night and for some reason the Wizard of Oz was always shown around Easter. Anyone who has gotten to know me at all knows that Wicked's version of things in Oz very much appeals to me lol.

I can sing songs for all he mentioned musicals except 7 Brides for 7 Sisters, I've seen it but liked the silly TV show take off of it with Bobby Sherman better. I know that theme song.

Nw wouldn't this be a wonderful way to spend a Sunday, I'd love to se South Pacific again. Maybe Netflix.....

I know Cats became a cliche BUT, (can't remember if the name is Midnight or A New Day is Begun) that song makes me cry every time I hear it. My Mom was dying, I was watching Cats and that song came on. I thought, What, if like Griselda cat, Mom could have a chance for one more life?? Whew, really lose it w/ that song. Also, love TS Elliot's poetry which was the basis for that play!!

So many good musicals over the yrs!!!! They're cheesy sometimes but still, I miss them!!!!
