Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I was wondering if anyone here suffers from low back pain and if so, what do you take for it.
In the past I had been helped with narcotic pain killers after nsaids stopped helping but got addicted to them unfortunately, but now I am on meloxicam which is of little help even though I am on a dose higher then the doctor wants me to take due to my high blood pressure.
I use to run every day but had to cut back to once a week and even that bothers me. It never use to but it does now.
I had a long talk with doctor and she seems at a loss of what else to do for the chronic pain. I have been flagged so there is no way I would get the only thing that ever helped me but I don't think I want them anyway but yet I don't want to suffer so much. I can tolerate alot of pain and have for quite some time now but as I get older, it's getting worse and once I sit down, have a difficult time getting up again, thats how bad it is.
I am just looking for ideas, that's all so please share anything and everything.
Thanks and God Bless!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

#17 grammy no worries. Everything I read here was helpful in one way or another Thankyou for all your input.

Cloverset14, I am also on 15 mg meloxicam and it does nothing. That's it for that drug as 15 is as high as you can go on that one. Thankyou!

There are several different meds that can help aside from nsaids and opiates. Some antidepressants also have pain relieving properties when used at certain dosages, cymbakta, amiltryptaline, and others in that class are really helpful when it comes to easing low back pain.
Sandim and honor, I actually do have a tens unit which I bought on ebat for 20 bucks but it's only good for about 30 times,....after that you have to replace the pads and those pads sure get expensive over time, but then again, so do drugs so I should use it nonetheless.
Grammy, I will ask my dr if I can try the voltaren.
drsh8me yes I have tigerbalm but I can only use it when no one is around because it stinks so bad! It does help some. Thankyou!
I suggest heat bags. lay on them. or electric blanket if not too hot.
strengthening your abs-core helps
knowing how to lift and carry things. an OT would help
Remedial massage therapy. is amazing.

a GP who listens.
I have been pushing myself with exercise lately which seems to be helping alot so at this point, the meloxicam, combined with exercise halps for all parts of the day except when I wakeup in the morning or get up off a chair. If that makes sense. I am still looking for something that helps a little more though but thankyou everyone for your help....you all have big hearts!

1-- oxycodone... for a while anyway
2-- Inversion tables: these really do seem to help!!
3-- PEMF, specifically ICES-PEMF that was developed by NASA a while ago to grow stem cells in space.
I finally got out of the cycle of degenerative spine pain by using a combination of inversion tables (the trick is this: only invert for a few seconds, not minutes as they often recommend) PLUS vitamin K2-D3 supplementation to get control of undesired calcium deposition causing osteophytes on my spine, PLUS daily treatment with ICES-PEMF.
My specific opinions:
Pain meds - useless IMHO.
Inversion tables: Teeter hang-ups are good quality, but so is the "ironman" brand you can buy at Walmart. I advise not buying the cheapest ones because those tend to be junk. Expect to spend about $200 or more.
K2: use any form of MK-7, and you can read about it in the book: "Vitamin K2 and the Calcium Paradox," on amazon.com
vitamin D3: any form, many good ones are available.
ICES-PEMF: look around the web to find the best price. There are many sellers but the manufacturer is micro-pulse.com You can usually get them to give you a big discount if you call or email them and ask for one. Expect to pay $300 to $400 with a discount.
Finally: stay away from the knife: an honest ortho, hard to find but they are out there, will tell you the truth is that outcomes after any of those surgeries are not good, and often can be very bad indeed.
Several sites on the web sell this technology, so I am not recommending any specific one
I started taking vitamin D3 when my dentist suspected I had a vitamin D deficiancy. I later learned that most people do not get enough vitamin D in their daily diet so I will be taking this important vitamin daily.
I have never heard of ices-pemf and have no clue what it is. I will research it more. Thankyou for your reply and to everyone else!
God Bless!
