Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
But please don't go. I feel so good when I read your comments. You are always looking out for everyone. We need you here.
I will continue to do what this group has done for me. I love you all. I'll be back on later.
Thanks,
David.
"I (username) promise to be nice."
Telling someone that a course of action is "insane" is NOT nice!
No doctor "jumps" into "mainlining" medications. But as someone who has been in hospital for headaches severe enough to need hospitalization from dehydration, I can tell you that this course of action may be necessary to save a life.
ccbatson has a very narrow focus. I don't understand what he gets from coming to a support group for chronic pain when he has no pain and no experience with chronic pain. Telling people things like "EFFORT = RELIEF" proves that his experience is limited. We have to realize that we have more experience than he does. His comments are fairly useless to anyone with a chronic condition because so many are from permanent injury or debilitating debilitating illness that does not respond to "improve function" methods because the body is losing function.
I don't want to lose David either. He is the light in the darkness and a rope to hang onto when things are too tough to continue. The fact that this thoughtless user is driving him off proves that his motives are less than helpful.
Sorry to be less than "sunny". I need David today more than every.
Again, I'd rather people HIT THE IGNORE BUTTON instead of leaving. That way your BP will stay low and if it doesn't work contact ADMIN's. EVERYONE offended PLEASE hit the ignore button. We are in pain and don't need to be upset. If you ARE upset, hit the ignore button. You won't regret it. WE are actually in charge of this board. If we IGNORE we are left with who we want to see ONLY.
Make sense David? I know it hurts the new people, but by leaving you aren't helping the new people either. But...if it's not a DS site that you are talking of going to...DS will lose money as they get some money when people sign in to their site. In that regard you will be making a statement. I get it. So message me the site you are going to please.
I see beetle ? Dr. House doesn't seem to be around. He also was talking about another site for the same reason. If we want to stay together why don't you and he talk and get ONE place to go and then tell us so we can follow? That would solve the problem. EVERYone should be able to write ANYthing they want and not be 'advised' to stop pain meds or any comments about crazy...opiods do NOT drive you crazy. If I saw that I would have responded but I again, am not on enough to do anything...I just miss these things. Lucky I guess.
I do see the reason for going elsewhere after thinking about it. Money talks. DS will make sure no one 'DIAGNOSES' as this is a support group, not an online avenue for doctor/patient coorespondence. Wake up folks!
or...folk. hehe
I'm judging by this post. I didn't see anyone called crazy because of pain meds. Just assuming. But dang it all....that's just not right. We're taking drugs that could potentially hurt us because we HAVE to. I for one will not stand to be judged for it. I've blown up at doctors, the newspapers, govt. officials. I set them straight. So I certainly will to the average Joe. If I'm wrong and no one called anyone crazy, I apologize. I'm in pain ..not going hunting for the post. So IF this happened...talk to beetle and rsvp. I've gotten enough discrimination in my life and will not tolerate it myself. I hate it when anyone posts that they have mental issues and ties that to their pain. They are seperate issues, seperate diag, meds, treatment etc. Pain can depress you but that is situational depression, not clinical. Clinical depression requires medical treatment for it. It's depression that lasts and has no apparent cause. OK some will say...pain lasts a long time so I'm depressed....a 'long time'....or 'I take antidepressents because I'm depressed because of the pain'. OK. If it helps. But you see a GP or psych doc for depression. You see a pain doc (mostly) for pain.
This is what I told the last doc who told me to come off pain meds and my pain would go away. I said 'do you have a degree in pain management? Do you treat pain patients? Aren't you trying to diagnose out of your field???'
(I think that is at least unethical if not illegal).
OK i should have hunted and found the post. Maybe I'm off my nut here. But if so I'm sorry...and just take my comments as being for the subject in general instead of responding to a post admittedly I haven't read before. But dang it it's a bad pain day and I just don't want to. I AM sick of people judging me though. And I'm SICK of people saying pain meds do this and that when they clearly DO NOT. We are not talking about street drugs...LSD etc. We are talking about opiods that are necessary for extreme chronic pain. So seperate the two.
K I'm done.
Letter please?
So sorry.
The problem could be solved if we damand that this continue to be a support group without diagnoses?
Now I apprecate medical facts. I appreciate links to support those facts. I appreciate 'this can cause...because I read it xxxx(here) or I experienced it, or I know someone who knows about this because they had it.' THAT is a support group. That is what we ARE. WE are the group. Without us there is no support group. So lets keep it real. For what it is. Whoever is diagnosing, stop it. If you say something back it up with a site we can read from. We don't want medical advise. We want suggestions, facts that can be substantiated, support! If this is done the problem will disappear.
There i made a paragraph. Sorry for the rant. Dang pain!
Oh..yea. Good morning all. Hope you day is a 'better pain day'.
Hang in there.
First of all, I am so glad that you have reconsider leaving this group, you are the star and the sunshine of this group, and the way that you welcome people and give support is more than what I or anyone else can do (IMO). Like Leeall and I think backpain said, cc has every right to be here as all of us, this is a public forum, DS does not discriminate, no one needs to buy his book (I did), and it allows even the wilder to join. I understand your feelings and I am sorry my friend, but I don't feel the same way.
First of all, cc is not giving anymore medical advice than me or you do, because he is not in front of any of us, doesn't have a patient/doctor relationship with us, etc. so there is no medical advice given here, it is just an opinion based on science not in human suffering.
The difference between us the patients and people in chronic pain, and him is inmmenze, and I truly hope that he learns by been here some compassion and to not been so judgemental, we all can learn something with our experiences here. I believe, and I am not putting any words in his mouth, that his reaction, like mine BTW, was out of concern and not as a judgemental man of science, and of course I don't know, but you leaving because someone ruffled your feathers is not right, and I am glad that you have change your mind.
Diagnosing and giving advice are two different animals, and for diagnosing you need facts, and of course you need to be in front of a physician in order to do this, maybe Leaall, backpain, and myself are wrong, but I did not posted this to create any controversy, I posted this because of concern, because if you go, I don't know what we will have left. Think of it this way, there's been many, MANY members here that have gotten on my last nerve, and with put them on ignore, it has suffice, do not leave this place because of someone elses fault, leave DS when you are cured (that would be awesome!), and when your life is not ran by pain, and it's ran by the love to your Harley's, wife, animals and God.
Big Hugs my friend!
Millie
It would be a great loss if you left.
Hugs

CC is relaying info he learned in medical school. The medical schools need to re-vamp their curiculum to better educate their students.
I went to a doc early on in my suffering. He disagreed with one of my statements and produced a book as proof of his opinion. Yep, you guessed it. HE wrote that book.
Glad to see you back David.
Everyone stay, please! I need all of you!
Cherry
I don't believe anyone is going anywhere. There are times where we have differences of opinion, or one person may not aree with another, but it happens.
This is a support group. I made the mistake of reading a post by someone that just kinda pushed me over the edge.
Most of us suffer from chronic pain. I do, so I try to support my fellow cp sufferers. I have my chosen doctors I see, who take care of me and it's my choice.
Please for those who are new, we have a person who is a member of the chronic pain group, who does not suffer from chronic pain, but treats people on how to debunk it.
Again I am sorry I got sucked in to one of the threads, that I didn't, and still don't agree with, but it happens.
I am led to be a person that if I don't have a working or a positive solution to assist or support another "fellow cp sufferer" I should by no means try to hurt anyone. This group and the folks here have changed my life.
I don't want to leave, and I'm not, but I let my self control slip away. My door is, and always has been open.
David.
Even gentle souls like you can be upset. It makes you human!
Cherry
Hugs,
Theresa
