Its one of those things where you have to go and try it to see if you get benefit from it.
I use it for my Chronic Pain along with other Therapies, since I stopped taking narcotics 7 months ago. It helps me.

Acupuncture did not do a thing for either my wife or me. It was conducted by a certified acupuncturist who was also an MD. It made me worse off for a while after having five or so treatments in a week. Not a pleasant experience either; the doctor upped the therapy after I told him that it was not helping and probably making it worse. Like OPC said, everyone is different so the results will be different for others. I would give it a try, but it can be difficult to find a person who you can trust to do the acupuncture.
I only do it once every 2 weeks or so; so no where near the amount Sptrout did. And it is an adjunct therapy for me, probably my weakest, I use it with Physical Therapy, Pool Therapy, Arthritis Meds, Anti-Inflammatories, Muscle Relaxers, TENS Unit, Protein Rich Plasma Replacement Therapy (which is one of the biggest helps) and I go to the gym 5 days a week, 3 days I do a personalized training program set up by my trainer and 30 min. on the Treadmill followed by 20 min. of Heated Hydra Massage and Hyperthermic (superhot) Sauna Pod Massage, 2 days I just do 45 min. Treadmill and the Heated Hydra Massage and Hyperthermic Sauna Pod Massage.
Its a program that was put together by my Physical Therapist, Rheumatologist, Orthopedic Surgeon, Physical Therapist and me when I detoxed off of all Narcotics. And for me it works, I can keep my pain at the same 4 - 5 that it was at using large amounts of Morphine and Oxycodone.
Its all about choice and what you're willing to do.
