Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I'm basically an introvert so don't say much but have found your group to be very informative as well as supportive.
Maybe one day I'll have the courage to actually say something, but not just yet.
Hope everyone has a low pain day!!!!
My name is Carrie. I originally became a member of DS back in 2009, however, I did not stick around. I decided to try DS again and only came back recently. The atmosphere has changed and I am glad that I am here. This is a very understanding and compassionate group, which are key components in offering SUPPORT.
I have 3 failed back surgeries and have nerve root entrapment in both of my legs. I suffer severe pain 24/7 and due to that, I am housebound around 340 out of 365 days per year. My computer is my "lifeline" to the outside world and all of you, my new friends.
Welcome to all of the new members and hello to all of the old. Whether you are new or old, we are a TEAM, helping each other one day at a time.
Hugs & Blessings,
Carrie
I lurked here reading for about a year. Don't recall when I joined CP. I'm just glad I did. I needed a place where I could feel normal and understood. Also, I can be honest about how CP REALLY effects me and not be looked at like I have a third eyeball on my forehead, lol. I may be down but never out!
we even laugh together!!

" can we do a re-introduction?"
We had this thread not long before you came back CB.
Hugs..jc
Everyone here is awesome. The board is VERY active and its never long before someone responds.
I don't have nearly as many issues as most have here and can't really give much advice, but I do respond when I can.
These people help me in ways that my family can't.
My name is Gaye, I'm an Aussie (somewhat of a rarity on DS) and I found this wonderful place in January 2008. It's hard to believe I've been on DS for four and a half years now... but on the other hand it's hard to remember a time when DS was not a daily part of my life.
I would certainly never want to return to feeling as alone as I did before I joined here. My DS friends mean the world to me... without this contact I would be almost totally isolated, even though I live right in the middle of a great big city, as I've had severe social anxiety for most of my life, which makes it very hard for me to build real life friendships.
I do go through periods of being "quiet" here, but I still log on and read the boards every day, and I try to keep up with how my friends are getting on, even when I'm not posting much.
It's always good to see newbies introducing themselves and getting comfortable with posting here. I hope that DS becomes, for all the newbies, the type of wonderful lifeline that it has been for me this last four years.
Thanks for posting this JC... it's nice to get an intro from the "more senior" members as well.
Sending hugs and smiles for anyone who is in need of them...
take care... Gaye... xxx
I owe my life to you wonderful folks here, you pulled me out of a very dangerous and deep hole.
You all are better friends than I HAD, sticking with me through the tough times.
Gentle hugs to you all and a very big THANK YOU.
