Most receptions are paid by the head so if you could stay for the dinner that would be nice.
I'm sorry the people around you are putting so much pressure on you to go. They can't possibly get it and you should discount what they think.
You should do what you want to do and feel comfortable with. Getting all worried about it will stress you out to the point of not being able to go.
I'm in a similar situation in that my granddaughter's birthday party is tomorrow at Chuckie cheese, the loudest place on earth. I don't make up my mind on what to do until the morning of the event because I may be flat on my backside today but I never know what tomorrow will bring...
I do think if you want a new friend in your life it would be best to start off on the right foot and be honest about your illness. Otherwise the person won't last long as a friend when you continue to cancel on her without explanation.

It is better to tell her in the beginning and then she will know the truth.
If she really likes you and really cares and wants to spend time with you then she will be accepting. It is better to know sooner rather than later. If she cannot accept your illness then that is her choice. It is not your fault. Everyone is different and some people cannot deal with things like that. It is not personal believe it or not. You might want to make it very simple since a lot of people don't know what cfs is. Maybe just say "cfs, which means I have less energy than othe people."
Then you could say that you are open to dating someone who also has fatigue, or is simply willing to accept yours.
Of course this means fewer responses. But the responses you do get ought to be more valuable. You won't be stressing about if they will accept you because they already did.
If you try this out, come back and say how it goes. Online you have the potential of meeting people who also have fatigue since you are reaching so many more people than if you go to a public place in person.
I'm sorry to say that I missed the B-day party. Luckily, I already gave her the present.
Perhaps you can catch up to her when she is back from the honeymoon.
