Hello All! I'm so grateful to find a group of people who know what I'm going through. I had hoped to find a local caregivers support group, but they are few and far between. I left my husband a year ago and moved in with my parents full-time to care for them. My husband is selling our home and looking for a job here so he can join me, but it has been a slow move. It's difficult when you are in your late 50's to pick up and move. I'm the primary caregiver of my 90-year old mother and my 93-year old father. They are both very independent, and at this point they need support, but we know it is right on the cusp of needing more. I'm grateful to be in this group to both receive and offer support. This is an honorable thing to care for loved ones, but even honorable wears on you.

Caregiving is one of the hardest things to do. It takes real strength and courage. It makes it even harder for you having to be away from your husband I'm sure. Hopefully he can make it to you soon. Find time for yourself if you don't already. Even if it's just for an hour or two a day. You've got to have something to keep you sane.

I've started walking every day, and it has been a life changer. I've never had panic attacks before this, and walking and limiting caffeine has really helped to curb them. The physical presence of my husband will be so impactful - that will make all the difference in the world. I worry because he has to give up a really good job to come join me - and sometimes my thinking gets so screwed up and guilt takes over. Then one thing will happen with my parents, and I'm reminded why we are doing this. You are absolutely correct, this is one of the hardest things I've ever done. Thanks for the affirmation - I feel neither strong nor courageous. I appreciate the support greatly.

Get help for your parents when it's needed. You can't do everything alone.
Someone to come in a couple of times a week. Respite care when your
parents need more help.

Welcome o the group! I hope your husband is able to get to you quickly. I've had a mess of a year, and I don't get to be home so often-- but having a partner who supports you and gets it is something I'll appreciate every day. I hope your parents are easy-ish on you. :)
