What a cliche, I know. I don't hate the fact that I get paid, etc. But I do hate working in healthcare. It's too demanding, demeaning, and depressing. Feel like healthcare in this country is a cruel joke and getting worse. Wanted to make a difference and help others, yet feel like I'm getting pulled under into depression trying to keep up with the demands.
I can only make it so long at a job, no complaints about my performance, behavior, etc... then I have to quit because they work us too hard / the shift is bad on the body / lateral violence.
Any advice? I have student loans.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Trying to get out into a less stressful field !
Next and before some kind of consoling and/or advice will state, you might want to count your blessings, you HAVE a job.
What I mean and not to sound brash, when you have a job, you should be quite thankful for it A., and B., if wanting to seek another job, must first find the tiniest/littlest thing about your current job that you DO like. When and using the case of the universe here, when you put emphasis on what you don't like, the universe might end up giving you more of it. When you shift your focus onto the positives, it can make room for something new. (my two cents for what it's worth).
Using my own past situation, when I was complaining about the things which weren't working well for me, the universe as I like to refer to it as, gave me more of what I didn't want and made things even tougher for me. Realizing that life is a learning lesson, we don't just skate through it unscathed, we have to find those lessons in every event. Like, when you get up late for work and don't have time to eat rushing out the door just to be stuck in traffic anyhow. Or, in line to get concert tickets to your favorite band and by the time is your turn to get tickets they're sold out. The irony..
So, back to your job situation. When you find the little things which are positive and focus on them, you can then find something good to go along with why you deserve something different in terms of company, profession, etc. How about when you put in the effort for your job but the person who is a better kiss up to the boss gets the bigger raise and/or promotion? I know is off subject but, focusing on what you DO like about your job will enable you to say that in your interviewing process with the next company recruiter and/or hiring manager.
Is nothing worse when you might be interviewing for a company and the interviewer says, "tell me about your current/last boss? What did you like about him/her and/or their management style?"
How many times do we hear of people berating their current/past co. & manager? When that happens what do you think the interviewer is thinking? Right. Pass. Onto the next. Their only thought is how fast can they end the meeting and/or what to be thinking about for lunch/dinner later..
So, back to your stressful field of employment. Seek what it is you like. Maybe it is only the pay. Maybe is your co-worker. Maybe is the short commute you have. Maybe is the time you're able to spend with your loved ones, focusing on the positives will ensure you have a pathway to the next level in either new employment, a raise/promotion/transfer to different department, etc. This is not concrete and no, I don't have the answers but, changing this shift in thinking for myself when I was having issues finding employment while waiting out a non-compete, I decided to shift my thoughts onto other fields of industry where there were no limitations. I ended up securing a position at a former client of mine for some time in a totally different environment and area of expertise I never knew I had. Wish you luck in your endeavor. Stay positive and last, count your blessings that in fact you have a job & will be looking at a paycheck at the end of the week. There are little blessings everywhere when we focus on the good rather than the not so good.
Keep spreading the kindness and compassion even to those who you might think don't deserve it. Then, things will shift positively for you.
Hope some of this helps.
