Why Can't I Catch A Break?

I am wondering that today. I just got turned down by one of the law enforcement agencies that I had applied for. This really sucks. I am feeling pretty down about this because I just can't seem to have anything go right.

I keep waiting to catch a break. After my year last year I thought that I was due a streak of luck. I am still waiting. I am so fed up with everything in my life turning out to be false hope and more problems.

At this point I don't know what I am going to do. I keep putting applications and they go no where. The economy is getting worse and about 600,000 jobs were lost last month! The unemployment rate for people collecting benifits is 7.8% and this isn't including those who have run out of benefits or people like me who can't collect them. I bet that it is over 10% truthfully unemployed.

I couldn't find work in my chosen career from May 2002 until May 2005. I know the frustration and the worst is when people say "don't worry, you'll find a job".

Keep going, it will work out in the end. When I was underemployed those years I found work in a warehouse through a temp agency. They pay a lot. Eventually I found two jobs but they were both in remote areas up north. I took one of them and that is why I live in the middle of nowhere.

I have several clients who have been axed(including a cop).Our country is in dire straights.My job at the funeral home is slow right now as cremation is becoming more popular cuz of expense.
I live at poverty level income but am thankful I have a job.I've kept my prices the same to try and do my part in helping my clients make it with interviews and to just feel good about themselves.

It is hard to look for a new job, partly because employers don't even sent out letters telling you that the position was filled; Not even after you have an interview. They don't read your resume', they scan it for key words. It is hard. Just hang in there and don't take it personally when there isn't a response. Maybe try for a different type of job. You know you have other skills. Go teach sailing at the YMCA or something.

My experience taught me that it did absolutely NO GOOD to send out Resume's via the Internet. All it did was hand out my email address to every known scammer, thus I had to change my email address. Contact a Temp Agency that deals in your line of work. Do you know of such an animal?

It doesn't exist....My line of work is law enforcement. Whole different beast there.

Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't know if there was such a thing. My best friend is a Chief of Police out here...Wanna move? (I know, not likely, just thinking)

Crime never has a recession. You'll find work with your experience. In the meantime use this time effectively. Who knows, this may be the longest break that you'll ever get in your life.

The right thing will come along you will see. Keepthehope, had a long stretch of waiting a while back, but finally the right job was there for him. I hope it works out for you soon, because I know it is discouraging.

There is always a demand for law enforcement, so I wouldn't be surprised if something comes along very soon. Don't let it get you down! (((HUGS)))

Heave, when you apply for a job, do you call and follow-up or do you sit and wait for them to contact you?

After an interview, do you wait for them to call you, or do you call them to check on the progress of the position?

Heave, keep the faith. I look forward to hearing a positive report. Remember God is not early or late but right on time. Maybe this is the time to meditate on some of the scriptures that will speak directly to your heart. Take care.

I think it's higher then that.

I was watching "Bulls and Bears" last Sunday and they were saying that the Dept' of Labor doesn't take into account the people that work 30hrs or less and those that work "temp" jobs a few days a month. When they did there own figures, they came up with a number closer to 40%. This economy sux ass and it's all becouse of the bankers "Padding the books" that caused our economy to crash; And what do we do, we give the fucking "BASTARDS!!!" our tax money to bail them out so they can pay there multi-million salaries, take million doller trips, and pay out millions in bonuses: Why are they not in prison now??????????? WTF!!!!!!!

Actually, the numbers are strictly based on those collecting benefits and nothing else. There is definately a dark figure to the statics that doesn't account for people like me who can't collect benefits and are just looking for a job.
