The day after tomorrow is my 37th anniversary. I have been a housewife for 22 of those 37 years. The housewife job was much more gratifying when there were children in the house, but the yougest graduated HS in 2002 and the housewife job has long felt like an echo chamber. I'm not sure my busy, successful husband has even noticed. Not on any meaningful level, anyway.
This is not my first round of wondering if divorce is the only way I will be able to get out of the stasis my life has become. It is my first time reaching out for thoughts and experience on the possibility.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
I fully agree that divorce sucks, but. . . Chew chew. . . Sort sort. . . Itsy bitsy baby steps. . .
@Everyone, My divorce was hell. I cried for 3 months straight. Slept on the floor with my kids/ the couch for months. I was suicidal at times, which I felt horrible about until I read other people's journals where they felt suicidal too. This board literally saved my life.
There IS hope. There IS another side. My ex and I are even somewhat distant friends. I credit this board with that. They talked me down from doing/saying a lot of really horrible things that I was thinking about.
Healing hugs, Patti
More itsy, bitsy baby steps. Away from this forum?
Hope healing happens here.
My spouse is extremely therapy resistant. So far, marriage counseling has looked like more trouble than it would be worth through that resistance. He has agreed to it a time or three, then proceeded to attack it in the next round of dialog. Each time I have left him to his own strictly personals and gone in search of counseling for myself.
I have been scouting divorce counselors. No lawyers yet. Just counselors.
You have time on your hands.
There are so many organizations that need volunteers you could be a full time volunteer by simply asking.
Go give of yourself, it may just lead to a part time job, which is what you really need. If the household doesn't need the money, start a savings acct. Things happen.
There is more to it than *simply* asking, though. When an employee makes a mess of their job, it's *just* a job. When a volunteer delivers false promises, it hurts like a father fuck.
