IMO, it's better than a guy who was never married at 50ish. Then my warning signs would go off.
Nope. Doesn't bother me.
I have since rethunk it & I don't have to say I'm divorce, all I gotta say is 'I'm single again'...
I knew what was going on. I'm not stupid, I knew there was something wrong with my marriage, yet I chose to stay in it for 18 years.
He did not force me to leave, yeah, he sweet talked me until I either came back 'home' to him or decided not to leave him, (aka honeymoon stage)...
I even knew about the wheel of abuse, the honeymoon stage, walking on eggshells, I even knew I was abused, YET I STAYED!!!
I cannot blame X for screwing up my life because I chose to let him.
I'm not saying you have to agree with me, I'm just saying that I'm standing up for my role in the abuse cycle & my role was staying...
Had I left, he would have not had me to abuse & I would have gotten on with my life a whole lot sooner than I chose to, but that's all past & I can't change the past...
All I can do is work in the present to make a better future... for both me & my kids...
I stayed by my own free will.
I'm not sure why there is a Stigma seeing how 50% of marriages in America end in divorce, but now that I think about that may just be a very small segment of the population getting married in the first place.
I try not to appear as 'scarred' I believe in 'Loving like you've never been hurt' anything less would be unfair to any future mate in my eyes. But even if you throw you all into a new relationship the fact remains, they know you've failed at it at least once already!
