I think Man have an innate need to be the provider. With that said, not all men would have a problem with it. It's also about how someone was raised I guess.

hmmm...idk...people just suck...and if one can't handle the other one having more professional power then they shouldn't even be in a relationship...I find it to be a very immature issue....if the bills are paid, thats what should matter...

I really don't know I think it depends upon the people and their relationship rather than the profession.

Some people think that a degree or education, changes their value as a person to more than someone else.

My son is gifted. I've told him Repeatedly that that doesn't make him "Smarter" or "Better" than anyone else.

Likewise, a kid he plays with is getting "Help". And I've told that boy repeatedly, that it doesn't matter where you are now, or who gets there "Faster"....it's where you "Stop".

I grew up in an area with multi-million dollar houses, and people in trailers or living in 3 rooms total. I've seen nice and not nice people in each. The happiest family lived in 3 rooms.

It shouldn't matter, but it does sometimes. Depends on how secure the people in the relationship are.

I think we've come a long way with feminism and equality, but there are still plenty of men who would find it odd, unnerving or difficult to be with a woman who has more power than they do, financial power in particular. I think much of what a man feels as part of his ego or identity in this world hinges on their career or their ability to provide. I think many of them would find it difficult to be the least powerful of their group of buddies, nevermind unemployed. If their wife is educated, accomplished, self-made, has status, a position of authority, is successful, well known or is impactful in politics etc, that it would be difficult if not hard on the ego for many men still.

it makes sense. I mean, if one is at a different level than the other, the odds of their personalities being different are greater (I suppose)

Since my STBX never wanted me to get a degree or work until we were separated, I'm going to pretend this thread is about how i dig professional white collar dudes... I'm changing it to "professional men" in my mind.. 'K, thanks.

It's the same relationship as if the Man has the bigger paycheck and chooses to play power games in the relationship.

I guess women are more conditioned to live with crap, then men are. But it's not right either way.

And quite frankly, some men marry for looks and a trophy wife, and some women in power will probably do the same.

i am in management and have been most of my life. as a rule, i like to date/be with successful men. i am also mostly attracted to smart men.

i think for me, i like to "look up" to the man in my life.

with that said, i could love a man who works in any field.. as long as he has passion in his life about SOMETHING.

in response to your other thread, rman (re: money/divorce) i would never let money be the reason to end my relationship. i am not/never will be with a man FOR MONEY. i can support myself now.. or forever. i think the key.. the attractiveness factor is that a man who has "success" or passion in his life has something going on in his life. THAT is what is attractive.. that drive.. that pride. (not necessarily what is in bank acct)

(side note: quit ur job and open a pizza/taco shop who has drum music in the back room.. THAT dear friend is where you will find joy :-)

Well, I think its the norm that one person in a relationship has more power than the other, someway, some how. It's a very rare thing for partners to be equal. My parents were equals in education, financially, and yet my father had old fashioned ideas about being the head of the family etc but my mother was a feminist and strong willed, all of their fights were about her making sure he knew they were equals, made decisions together etc And he respected her for that. I find that's the kind of relationship I have always wanted too. Equality, being a team, a solid unit, not a hierarchy.

So I'm not sure it's always about playing games, I think for plenty of people it's socialization, how someone was raised (did someone already make this point?), similar values.

I would say it depends on the people involved and how the react to one another....
