But I'm high maintenance emotionally.
Emotionally, I can be tough to deal with. I have a lot of issues and a lot of baggage, but I'm working on them daily.
I do like to go out to dinner, go to museums, travel, go to concerts, etc...but I NEVER expect someone to pay for me. I dont need to be showered with gifts, I would rather a guy write me a corny love letter or something. I'm a big sap!
And if things don't go my way....
Someone that always needs more than what blessings they already have.
Someone that can't be happy unless they have the next best thing.(car, home, clothing,)
Materialistic.
I will then say NO I am not high maintainance.
I enjoy the simple pleasures in life more than what I own.
I sing and dance in my old beat up Oldsmobile.
I sing and dance in the supermarket aisles.
I sing and dance at work.
I sit on the front porch and watch the trees blow.
I sit in a parked car drink coffee and bullshit.
I take long drives to wherever I end up.
I sit at the beach or at a pier and watch the stars, moon and clouds.
I stop to smell the flowers and the best gift I ever got was a flower that someone stopped the car in the middle of nowhere to pick for me.
Why you ask?Because he stopped the car in the middle of nowhere to give me something beautiful. It didn't have to come with a pricetag because the moment was priceless.
Finally NO I do not want someone high maintainance. My ex was and I learned my lesson on that one.We were totally mismatched because he was overly concerned with quality of merchandise and I was overly concerned with quality of time spent together.
I, myself, do not see myself as high maintenance. I don't wear expensive clothing. Do not shop at the mall. I do my own nails (but LOVE to get pedicures - yet rarely do). I dye my own hair, get my haircuts at the cheap places, I like going out to eat, but not at highly expensive places. Etc etc.....
I like living not just surviving - but none of my tastes are over the top. I have never really had a real vacation that wasn't "visiting family" related. I have to give myself permission even now to want for anything - battle with it every day in fact.
I don't have jewelry nor have ever insisted on getting some. I like fast/nice cars - but have always bought vehicles that were more for a family than for show. Even my new car is more of a family car than my STBXs. Go figure.
HOWEVER, my STBX feels that I am high maintenance and frivolous! He even has claimed so in his documents to my lawyer in regards to the settlement process!
He is dating a gal that loves clothes, shopping, sports cars, etc etc. They both make loads more money than I do - so I guess it's to be expected that they act like douchebags - but COME ON! Just 'cause I'm asking for spousal support does not make me high maintenance. If anyone is high maintenance - it's my STBX.....(examples: sports car, $150+ shoes claiming foot problems, $100+ irish football for his birthday that had to be imported from Ireland, $2000+ mountain bikes that he rarely rides, eating out every meal while working in an office, top of the line clothing for him if possible, trips for just his activities, etc etc).
WTFEVER!
Lynne
but i have higher expectations for my next relationship
its gonna take some wooooooooooooooing
Who over the age of 28 is not?
I was thinking about that today. I take my daughter to a park where I worked in college and just coming up the steps...
I was my low-maintenance, young adult self for just a moment: me in shorts, all park-dusty all the time, bad clothes/bad shoes/low sleep/bad haircut/bad nutrition... happy.
I can love myself for it.
