My husband, after a year of trying patiently to sort out my problems with lying and repair our marriage, has told me today that there is just no future and he intends to divorce me. He intends to stay in our home with our children until August when our two eldest daughter's exam results come out. He tells me he intends to apply for custody of our three daughters and use my unreasonable behaviour as grounds. I have not been unfaithful to him - ever - and I desperately want to save our marriage but I think it's too late now even though only a few days ago we had a week of both wanting to be together and repair it, after nearly three weeks of a purely platonic relationship.
I don't know what to do or where to turn. My parents are in their 80s and I don't have any really close friends that I can share this with - I don't want to be a burden to anyone.
He says I don't love him because every time I have lied about something it has just pushed him further away from me, and I know that he must feel as if he is walking across quicksand and just doesn't know where to find solid ground. I am sure that he thinks that a divorce will give him the feeling that at least he knows where he stands.
I just don't want this and I don't know how to face up to it or what to do. I don't answer the messages he sends me because I don't want to get into another fight with him. I do want to talk to him but how can he ever believe a word that I say?

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

If your relationship is anything like your post, I can tell you, he and many others are probably confused as to what the real issue is so you can't really solve it, if you don't really know what the problem is. Sounds like a lot of back and forth and back and forth with blame for something that is nothing.
Now i am confused on what I am even writing.
Welcome to the group
why do you lie?
how often do you lie?
how do you expect the person that you lie to feel about you?
how do you expect the person that you to think about how much you respect them?
will you lie to me when you answer my questions?
why should i believe any of your answers?
If you truely want to change you have to admit to yourself that what you did was wrong and confess. Take the first step . Tell the truth.
It's important for you to determine the extent of your lying, and the root cause. It can't feel good, lying to people. You can figure this out! Maybe it's too late for him, but it's not too late to be truthful to yourself! Good luck!
