Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
Now, if he started up with this chick after you and he were talking about getting back together, then thats another story.
Either way, in reading your many posts and not having enough time to respond to those before I find a need to respond to a new one from you, I have read that he has told you he sees a future but he is not ready to start that up ... my response to that was 1 of three reasons why, but in reading this post, it appears he may want to continue to pursue or see what this new shiny girl may have before he committs to going back to what he knows he will have and may lose again. Once someone breaks up with another, even just one time, it breaks a trust in that bond that was created between the two. So his hesitation probably also stems from not wanting to be dumped again. I know for me, that would be the case. Unfortunately, hesitation causes other problems cus when one is ready and the other is hesitant for whatever reason, it stops the relationship from moving forward and lead to the one who is ready to have pause as well; unfortunately, and most times the relationship ends for good, sadly.
So if I was you, I would chill out. Yes, now you know he may be interested in someone else, but yeh, you broke up with him. While there should be some sort of grace period for him to process you wanting him back, you don't need to allow the total control to be his and you certainly dont need to put your life on hold forever. In knowing most of your story, I believe he deserves the time to process it.
Listen, you can come here and ask all the questions you want and people can give you their opinion of what they think based on their experiences or mindset, but not all if at times, any of those apply. The only way you will know anything is to continue to have healthy communication with him. You both have to have understanding and patience with each other. You both have to not just listen but hear what the other is really saying and try not apply what you think is really going on to what the other is saying then judge and act based on that. The mess created by your breaking up with him has to be worked on to be unraveled. That will not happen overnight as much as you or anyone else may want it to. Not everyone moves at the same pace or has the same mindset when dealing with similar situations. In knowing that, I hope you can take care of you, but allow him to take care of him.

Then you asked - how to stop obsessing about his actions - You want to discuss that w/your counselor - most of us on here can tell you what would work - but I don't think that is going to help out because you are not at a point where you even want to accept that you have no right to obsess about the issue any longer - on one end you see it - on the other end you don't. You are conflicted. I believe you are already attending counseling - keep that up, that should help you more than we can.
Good luck
Yep you looked. You got a kick in the teeth.
You now know where you fit. Nowhere. Why waste energy on someone that doesn't make you as important as you make him?
