I was with the same girl for 4 years, from the start of college to finish, we planned everything together, marriage, kids, living together.
One day she started acting suspiciously and I called her out for hiding something, a week and a half later she confessed to cheating on me.
She was planning on leaving me for a guy if he left his girlfriend, he didn’t leave so she felt guilty and told me about it.
her reasoning why she did it was because they connected, he had the body she wanted, said that the long distance and me not looking better as the cause, saying quote “personality can only get you so far”
so I broke up with her and have been struggling as this is my first real relationship and definitely the longest. I don’t know how to cope with the pain or the obsession with her or my loneliness.
I tried asking her for closure on the matter but said “I won’t talk to you unless you come over”
i struggle most with the feeing of loneliness and the feeling, will I ever find someone after this. I lost all of my friends after graduation, I know no one to hang out with and I’m stuck at a dead end job making minimal pay, not enough to live out of my parents home.
Why do I feel this way considering what she did to me? Why would she ask me to go sign a marriage license so we can start a family now, but a week later start cheating?
i drove to see her every 2 weeks and stayed for the weekends. And she only lived 2 hours away so it wasn’t that much distance

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

She probably was cheating long before the "week later" that she told you, so don't dwell on it being a supposed week later. And saying the other guy had a "better body"? Wow, she sure is shallow! Guess you dodged a bullet with this superficial woman.
You are young, college educated, and have your whole life ahead of you. The possibilities are endless. You can do whatever you want, now that you are not locked into this relationship. Travel, move somewhere else, get into a whole new line of work... etc. Whatever it is YOU have always wanted to do.
First loves ending always always hurt. At first. You won't ever forget her, but the pain will ease, and you will go on to meet the *real* love of your life! That's what happens to most of us. I think of my first love once in awhile, but I sure am glad I did not marry him! Great guy, but we would not have been compatible for long term.
You both grew up and grew apart. She did not want the same things you did. (Such as loyalty...) Hang in there, it will slowly get easier each day. Stay busy, and get back in touch with old friends and go meet up with them. Start looking around for a better job. Spend some time with your family. You'll be okay.
