Asking parents for help

Is it wrong to ask parents for financial assistance when you are an adult? I just can't seem to swallow my pride...

i would be asking HER parents for the money. she is the one who hasn't been working.

personally, if my parents were still alive and i had a similar situation, there is no way that i would ask them for money. i would send the wife and kids to live with relatives before i did that.

From what little you've said about your financial situation, I think that you need to get your finances a bit more in order before I'd ask them for money. You Have to stop the bleeding first.

That means that you have to sit down with your wife and TELL her that she can't keep spending the way she has been. If you have to and can declare bankrupsy....then that's just what you have to do.

Then she needs to have a budget, and she HAS to stick to it.

Otherwise your parent's money will just be putting off the inevitable.

And if you're headed for divorce, money from your parents may help you get a start (apartment, dishes....)

I've asked my mom for financial help before. It's humbling, but I was desperate.
