On May 4th my husband of 24 years told me he was "done". He wanted out and I had no say. We have three children 21, 18, and 10. Apparently he had been telling my 18 year old for about a week prior of his plans. To put that burden on her is unfathomable to me. We of course did not have a perfect marriage, but I did not see it coming. I always thought we were the couple that would always work it out. Since then I have been a wreck. Depressed and prone to anxiety attacks. I have been to the doctor and the therapist a couple of times each and have begun medication to try and help although I am still not finding the relief I would hope. I can't eat or sleep. I have lost 24 pounds in two weeks. One week after my husband blindsided me, we broke the news to my 10 year old. We got him through it, although it was awful and in some ways telling him lifted some of the anxiety I was feeling. That was until the next day when he told me he had met someone and wanted to "pursue" a relationship with her. Once again, my life went spiraling out of control. I am going day to day in a fog. To add to that is the fact that he was the breadwinner and me, a stay at home mom, so I feel totally out of control in that area too. He has been paying me enough to cover the bills so far, but who knows how that will go down the road. Tonight is the first night my son has gone to stay with him and to say I am a wreck is an understatement. I did well in front of him, but lost it for about 30 min after. I just can't believe this is my life now and I had no say. Sorry for the length. Seems hard to condense so many years into a short post. Thanks for listening.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
ensure you get your support money from him
I am so sorry for your pain
I have been through this...after 19 years with my wife
It is a rough road ....but you can get through this
one day at a time
be gentle with yourself....make sure you get sleep and try to maintain some intake of food
hugs to you
i haven't snowed them since either,
your kids are old enough to have a pretty good bullshit meter, let thier Ahole father set it off
As far as healing I'm sure you've heard it all..limited contact just about the kids, no social media, exercise, etc etc..those are all great pieces of advice but the truth is it just takes time. He did you a favor telling you right away about his new POS cheater girlfriend, get that false hope of reconciliation out of the way pronto. Read the website www.chumplady.com if you haven't yet, great advice about dealing with these kinds of assholes..I include my ex wife in that category wholeheartedly.
I don't care how bad your marriage was; your husband had a choice to speak to you first but he's a coward just like the rest of them. They want to test the waters first with a new relationship before they make the big break. When he's dumb enough to walk away, be smart enough to let him go.
I know you haven't worked in a while but it's probably time to start thinking about that. It's all about you now. Don't waste any time worrying about what he's doing. He's already made his choice.
24lbs in two weeks is a lot. See if you can stomach ensure shakes just to get some nutrition in your body. Try to take some walks. Exercise is good for raising endorphins and it keeps us healthy.
Definitely visit the chump lady. She is very empowering. I'm so sorry you're here. I was married for 24 years before the exhole cheated. I stayed for another 3 years. Don't make that mistake if you can help it. Sending support and jedi hugs your way.

Take care
I hope you force yourself to eat something. The meds will help some, but they tend to take six weeks to kick in, so be patient with yourself. You will get through this. Hugs.
