does it make it eaiser to live with ourselves and our actions to say we are BI-POLAR I or II, MANIC - DEPRESSIVE, MOOD DISORDER, RAPID CYCLER. It is like we are just a small step away from being normal. At least we aren't scizophrenic or psycotic. Just some of us with psycotic features.

I like to think I would never do anything "crazy" like shoot everyone at the post office (DMV) or anything but I have already done things that are not normal or I wouldn't have been hospitilized so many times. The would let me be a piolt or buy a handgun. They don't let "crazy people" do those things.
I don't know why I bring this up. I just found it odd that we don't want to be compared to the Brittney Spears and Seriel Killers because we have found the enlightment of psycology. If I were normal, which my meds have me feeling close to now, I would look at myself and say I was crazy for some of the things I do.
I wont excuse all my actions and feelings with the simple fact that I am Insane. Only that I won't feel sorry for myself and try to make it less serious than it is. sometimes I think we patronize ourselves into thinking we are normal and can even make it without meds.

like if we could be content to be sheep, drooling and just walking around aimlessly talking to ourselves...
Ignorance is BLISS, but beepers aren't ignorant and we fight this shit and want normal or sometimes even spectacular lives...I want to write, I want to be a DJ, I want I want...but I cannot keep a job or handle the stress of college...DAMMIT!!!
Sorry, but 'insane' typically refers to mental illness...and Bipolar and anything else is a mental illness. It's because people constantly view things in terms of 'good' and 'bad' that mental illness continues to be stigmatized and we, the sufferers, suffer from this stigma.
It's like...'insane' = taboo...shhh don't say that! It's bad!
You don't have to call yourself insane if it makes you feel better, but it's not a 'bad' word.
