I'm sorry , this is such a hard decision. I always say once there in pain it's not fair, if she's not in pain, maybe spent as much time with her as possiable. It sounds like she's had a happy life.

I had to make that decision a year ago. My cat was 20 but she was getting down to skin and bones and I could tell by looking at her that she was in misery. I feel your cat will tell you when she is tired and it is time. I feel they have their ways to talk with us.I'm so sorry you are having to go through this very painful time. Know you are loved.

I have ordered precription food,tried to feed her favourite food cooking fresh salmon and she used to love trout,she has her own room with electric blanket,she has been a very special friend to me,never left my side,sorry to go on but I am crying my eyes out xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

if shes suffering put her to sleep, if she's just old, let her die naturally. either way I'm sorry :(

I am going through the same thing. One of my dogs died last month and the other one can hardly walk and is very old. Hardly eating. But if you start playing with him he is very happy. I also think it is from a broken heart as the two dogs grew up together. He is 15 and i am to scared to take him to the vet. I am at a loss of what to do.

WOW! 26? DANG! WHat kind of kitty is she? I had to put my beloved feline companion, Sonny, she was 2 months shy of her 17th birthday, to eternal rest in March. She and I were war buddies! I love her intensely! I know she is happy at Rainbow Bridge and we will reunite when I am finished with my work here on this planet.

It is a painful decision and know that you will make the right one for your beloved feline companion.

Take her to the vet because if she is in pain you need to put her down.

I am so sorry for youe pain. And I'm kind of jealous. You'll probably be getting a new kitten or two in the future and I just love kittens!

After 26 loving years of companionship, I do not envy your decision.

In a situation like this one must ask oneself, is my pet alive because h/she is living a happy, healthy pain-free life, or because I cannot bear to let go regardless of how the animal friend feels. You need to take her to the vet and have her examined as to why she is not eating. There may be something the vet can do for her, she may just not feel like eating (if she is still mobile this may be the case), or it may be time to say goodbye.

I am possibly the most irrational person in the world when it comes to my pets and I can still cry over those I lost decades ago (I'm crying right now over a dog I lost in 1988). Sadly, sometimes it is time to let go

I am very sorry, it's heart wrenching isn't it? If your cat is not suffering I don't see why you shouldn't let her die at home with you..seeing as she's purring etc thinking of you x

Well the vet has just left,I called them out as she hates going in the car,she has now been put to sleep,thanking all for your messages xxxxxxxxxxxx
