Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I am down. I want to get on Facebook and let it all out. I don't know why I think that's a therapeutic solution, because I know it's not. Because I have a job where I must be mindful of the things I say publicly. So I come here instead.
I'm down and I don't want to be. I don't want to share everything on my mind...not even with my counselor, my wife, or anywhere. I just keep it to myself.
I'd really like to cry, but I can't do that either. I kind of get why people end their lives after years of feeling like this. And for us...the bipolar, we have to just act like nothing is wrong so we appear normal. Man this sucks.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

It doesn’t help you to hold everything in. Maybe write it out in a journal that no one can seee?
Feel free to come and go as needed, Jfulk. Listening. . .
Also you should look for another Counsler. It took me yrs to find one I could be comfortable with. I can tell her anything. I had one Counsler try to commit me. I was really depressed that day but I wasn't suicidal. She claimed I was. So She called the police had them come to my house ext. They made me talk to a psychiatrist he cleared me. Anyway when I was getting checked in for a counselor I told them to give me a seasoned one. Not one that's isn't experience with my diagnosis. Be clear abt what you need to get better. I hope you feel better soon
Counseling and getting comfortable with your Therapist takes some time, feeling safe talking about all the negative and painful things that clutter your head isn't easy and it's not "2nd nature" to most people. Sometimes writing down whats on your mind before you appt. helps you gather your thoughts so you know what you'd like to talk to your Therapist about.
Social Media of all types is not generally a friend to those with Mental Illness or Emotional Disorders, when they're in a non-stable mood, not in this day and age when Employers, co-workers or clients can look up anything they want about someone. So avoiding Facebook is probably your best bet.
As for "The BiPolar" having to act normal, I'm not sure who feeds you that line, but you can act however you want. You live your life, whatever that entails, if your managing your disease and getting treatment to be as stable as you can, then you just live, there's nothing to hide.
As for "normal" the day someone can define that in a way that pertains to all people...I might consider using it when referring to someone.
Take care,
You can use your journal on here and set it to private if you just want to see it or 'friends only' if you want support from your DS friends
I agree with OlderC that 'we have to act like nothing is wrong' is something you're telling yourself and that's not what's real
I appreciate authentic emotions from people..... Another hug and a blessing.....xo
