I was diagnosed bipolar in 2007 after a couple personal triggers. I just had the same triggers in Nov. 2014 and I've since been suffering. It has really hurt a lot. I was medication free for over 3 years. The original trauma that I experienced left me hospitalized. This time around I've been to the hospital for a check up but not actually hospitalized.
The best way that I can explain it is that it was something I had to go through, or chose to go through. This time around I didn't end up losing control.
I would like to know if anyone else experienced the same - being triggered and going through similar experiences but more in control the 2nd time around. I'd love to hear from you.

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

I'm certainly glad you've applied experience your second (?) time. I hit rock bottom two years ago, landed in hospital, shocked family and friends, the entire nine yards. So I've got some fail safe in place. If I start certain behaviors/thoughts I'm hoping to prevent a near extinction level event.
Does this sound like I heard you?
I apparently have, and have had, Many triggers that I can work on and think I have gotten Past in my life, but only because I have been testing myself under "controlled conditions" and haven't had them show up out of Nowhere, in-the-wild.
Then they become Triggers again; however, yes, I have seen a measure of control now, due to greater awareness of what is Happening, that I did not have before.
I do believe once we become Aware of the experience it gives us a Chance to have greater control than we had before.
HUGS
Yes I became sick after caring for my folks at the end of their lives... I was grief stricken and I did their palliative care... I don't know that I've really ever come completely back from it however life is a lot better now
Big hug for you
good for you for coping with the triggers 2nd time around and maintaining control.. I know what you mean about having to go through it in the first place.... guess I was just too triggered and traumatised to deal with it well for a couple of years down the line
One hideous episode or two taught me that lesson.
I'm glad you managed to fight your way back this time.
Also note.... if you stop medications, a relapse is often harder to get yourself back to being stable
