Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I've posted numerous times about my manic episode and gotten great support and kind words regarding it. But I can not let it go. My actions haunt me. Its destroyed my sense of self worth, my self esteem and even though its been 6/7 months ago, I haven't let it go. It feels like a shame and horror that I'll have to live with the rest of my life and that is unbearable. Since my depressive episode following the manic episode has improved, some days I can feel better about it than other days but I feel like I've ruined my life and have a huge burden to emotionally carry at all times.
For those of you with BPD1 that have had really destructive manic episodes, does the guilt and horror and shame truly last forever or are you able to let it go and forgive yourself at some point? How long did it take or is it something you inwardly struggle with constantly to some degree? I think I'd be relatively stable right now if not for the crushing weight of my actions, it's like I'll be paying for it forever and I believe I deserve to.
My insurance doesn't cover it or I'd see a therapist, I know counseling would help me work through the emotions. Any advice from your therapists or reassurances?

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

I only feel that way you do when I put myself on a non mental illness playing field. Like there is nothing wrong with me. Now I see myself with this illness and know I was sick for 18months and with therapy and proper medication my chances of this happening again get much less. It's ok to have BP1. My therapist said memories are like the clouds in the sky they are just passing over your head. Don't focus on them and let them just pass by. Everybody has memories and they are bad ones too. Try to think of your memories before any episodes and how you disposed of them back then. My problem was dealing with the humiliation damage. Now when anybody brings it up I proudly say. " I wear my underwear on the outside of my pants"! so what. what's your secrets.
A great big hug for you, I understand. Many people here had similar things happen to them. You are among friends. Best wishes. (((HUGS)))
Depression is pain on the inside only you feel and mania is pain on the outside that everyone sees that leads to depression.
I hate this so much.
Are you seeing your pdoc regularly?.... If now I would see him/her in case you need a med tweak
I can't afford therapy either.... There are a lot of books on cognitive therapy and this might help you to work on thinking patterns
These are times for baby steps.... what can you do today to help yourself feel better.... What small steps
What is the thinking that you're doing to enrich of help your life right now?.... This is hurting you and holding you back.... This is no good
I would also see about getting a book on dealing with unhealthy guilt and shame.... There may even be a book about these aspects of bipolar disorder??....Not sure
However dealing with these emotions in extremes will do nothing good for you just hold you back from healing
Gentle hug and a blessing......xo
