so much new-job anxiety!

just a few days ago I got my very first contract to narrate a book. This will be my first job in about 12 years! The anxiety is intense! I have a nearly constant butterfly fleeling in my stomach. If I weren't also excited to break into narration, I would probably be falling apart right now. I can't wait for this feeling to fade! Thankfully, I haven't been throwing up. I know a lot of people have that kind of anxiety response, but I don't. The one good, and odd, thing is that whenever I get in front of the mic, I fall right into "the zone". I don't feel any anxiety while doing my job. so weird.

Congrats on the new job! I think it will likely normalize for you after a few weeks. Sounds like you can do the work itself with no problems - so you’re halfway there to combat the anxiety!

I'm really feeling the new job anxiety myself friend. I've been out of the working world for 6 years on disability and I start a new job next week. It's a process for sure. I'm noting all these thoughts that keep popping up that are downright falsity in every sense. I'm going fail, I'm not smart enough, I don't have the proper skills, I don't have any knowledge or experience in the industry, I've been out of the working world too long, etc etc.. OMG! They have not stopped for a while since I landed the job and their just lies that come from FEAR (false evidence appearing real). Hang tough and don't listen to the BS our wounded selves cultivate. Embrace your true self, the self that stands up for what you want to accomplish! Don't get stuck in a "Destination mentality" either. Find happiness now.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
