Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

To me, stability means I have not had a bout of depression or mania that lasted at least a week. Which I have not. Yes I have felt depressed at times but was able to pull myself out of it. And I feel a bit hyoimanic at times but then I just think it is excitement

Stable for me is being able to work, live, volunteer, function on my own, take care of family, while managing my symptoms. Still have Depression at times and Manic Eps once or twice a year, but knowing the signs of them coming on and manage them before they take over me. Knowing my Triggers and keeping them out of my life. Taking medications that work well, having a great Pdoc relationship and using learned coping skills and different types of Therapy to keep the symptoms in check. Knowing that BiPolar is everyday and life learned living with it, is the biggest most important tool to use.
Remembering that regular life for everyone, with or without a Mental Illness has ups and downs, hardships, good and really bad times, stress and irritability and not living each day according to "stability" just living...
I'd say I got about a month under my belt. I thank the max dose of Vraylar.
I do dip at this time every Fall it seems however I don't consider myself unstable
I think the biggest success tool for me is working with my disorder and not against it
I completely accept it and know that I need ongoing help in one form or another unless there is ever a cure and I have no problem accepting that
So that means that I accept some side effects from meds and I accept that the symptoms are part of a disorder and not something that I need to act on
When I need to I seek help and hopefully this will continue to help when things seem bleak.....xo
